Planning a Circuit
Is when the “travel path” of the team is NOT exactly
the same on the way in as on the way out.

Independent of number of dives, requires 4 steps: • Must strive to use maps

• Set up, Proof, Completion, Clean up
• Two jumps are required to
complete this particular circuit
• Involves Circuits or Traverses
• Primary navigation is referencing (learning, • May need more than one dive to
remembering) the cave complete it
• All team responsibility • What-if? scenarios
• Permanent lines are used for confirmation
• T’s, gaps and/or jumps MUST be planned in
advanced
• All Markings are team decisions
• Must have travelled main tunnel first before

• Check Primary Reel

• Set up primary reel
• Locate desire jump
• Locate desired jump
• Run spool at jump
• Drop a set up REM at max penetration
• LEAVE all temporary lines setup • Drop cookie at max penetration,
• Exit the same way you came in the unless you find your previous set up

• Must proof the circuit first by being in • Means taking all temporary lines and
both sides of the circuit markers out of the cave
• Once proved, the team may decide • You may clean partially as you

• Another dive may be necessary • Additional dives may be needed
