CBRN Risk: ‫خطر‬ ‫اشعاع‬
CBRN is an shortening for chemical, biological, radiological and
،‫الحاالت‬
‫ نووي‬nuclear. It is used to refer to situations in which a threat is
‫تجلى‬ ‫وجود‬
manifested by the presence or use of any of such agents.
Sometimes it is extended to CBRNE, where the E refers to the
threat of use of explosives.

Radiation Biohazard Cation Danger Zone (Very Toxic)

• Strengthening the security and our capabilities will effectively prevent and
reduce the risk of natural, accidental and deliberate incidents deriving from
the potential use of these agents on the whole of society.

• The inadequate control over CBRN materials can threat the security,
human health, economic development and to the environment that go far
beyond national or regional borders.

• Biosafety Risk Assessment
‫بكتريا السل الرئوي‬
• The biological risk assessment process is used to:
1. Identify the hazardous characteristics of an infectious or potentially
infectious agent or material,
2. Identify the activities that can result in a person's exposure to an agent.
3. Predict the probable consequences of such an infection.

• The information identified by risk assessment will provide a guide for the
selection of the appropriate modifications, including the application of
safety equipment, and facility defenses that can prevent any danger.

• Biosecurity Risk Assessment:
• Biosecurity events usually result from unauthorized access, damage, loss,
or misuse of an organization's assets.

Outbreak
• What is an outbreak?
• An outbreak is a sudden rise in the number of cases of a disease. An
outbreak may occur in a community or geographical area, or may affect
several countries. It may last for a few days or weeks, or even for several
years (example COVID 19). Some outbreaks are expected each year, such
as influenza. Sometimes has serious public health effects (e.g.,
bioterrorism agent such as anthrax).
Bioterrorism
• Bioterrorism :
• A bioterrorism attack is the deliberate release of viruses, bacteria, or
other germs to cause illness or death. These germs are often found in
nature. But they can sometimes be made more harmful by increasing
their ability to cause disease, spread, or resist medical treatment.

• Biological agents spread through the air, water, or in food. Some can also
spread from person to person. They can be very hard to detect. They
don't cause illness for several hours or days. Example: anthrax, botulism,
Ebola and other hemorrhagic fever viruses, plague, or smallpox could be
used as biological agents.
• Biological Accident:
• or Biological disasters are caused by exposure to pathogenic micro-
organisms, toxins and bioactive substances that may cause loss of life,
injury, illness or other health impacts.
• What Are Biosafety Levels?
• Biological safety levels — often abbreviated to biosafety levels or BSL —
are a series of protections specific to autoclave-related activities that
occur in biological labs. Biosafety levels are designed to protect
laboratory personnel, as well as the surrounding environment and
community.
• These levels, which are ranked from one to four, are designated based on
the agents or organisms laboratory personnel are researching or working
on.
• For example, a basic lab setting that specializes in the research of non-
lethal agents that pose minimal threat to lab workers and the
environment would generally be considered BS-1, which is the lowest
biosafety level. By way of comparison, a research laboratory that
specializes in handling potentially deadly infectious agents, such as the
Ebola virus, would be designated as a BSL-4 lab — the highest and most
stringent biosafety level.
