ACTIVITY 1
Safety in the Laboratory: General Rules inside the Laboratory

I. INTRODUCTION

In addition to safety risks associated with any clinical laboratory, such as chemical, fire,
electrical and radioactive hazard, the microbiology laboratory presents the hazard of exposure
to infectious agents, or biohazards. Biohazards are biological substances that may present a
health risk to humans. Guidelines to ensure safety in the clinical laboratory have been compiled
by several agencies. The recommendation of those agencies can be used to develop safety
regulations for the student microbiology laboratory.

II. OBJECTIVES

1. Determined the different safety guidelines for Clinical Laboratory.

2. Justify the differences of the 4 Biosafety levels.
III. ACTIVITY

a) On a bond paper make an illustration of the Safety Guidelines for the Clinical
Laboratory. Your illustration should be clear, precise and can be understood easily.
Kindly attach it here. (For your guide, refer to the given PDF)

IV. CONCLUSON

The read topic that was about Safety in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory. It
includes precautions and guidelines associated with the safety of the workers and the
environment towards operating the Laboratory. In conclusion, the presented
precautions and guidelines must be supervised in order to prevent the occurrence of
harm in the Laboratory area. By doing so, agents with potential risk of causing serious
diseases will be prevented.
