The generated effluent and sewage waters after treatment are used for maintaining the
green belt area of the production premises. M/s Nestlé India, Tahliwal wants to have a
Water balance, Water consumption and treated wastewater reuse study to assess
whether the treated effluent and sewage waters are quantitatively sufficient in all the
three seasons for maintaining the green belt area and whether the treated wastewater
quality is appropriate for gardening purpose use.

Objectives of the Study:

 Assess the quality of treated
wastewater so as to be fit for
reuse for maintaining the green
belt area of manufacturing unit.
 Assess the quantity of water
required for maintaining the
green belt in manufacturing unit
area in three seasons and
assessing whether treated
wastewater suffices the required
demand.
 Assessing whether any excess
treated wastewater remaining in
any season which needs to
be further treated for another
reuse. Green Belt Area

Recommendation:
In view of the above it is
recommended that, possibility of
directly reusing treated wastewaters
for plant washings/ utilities should
make up during monsoon periods
when excess rainfall is received.
Conclusion:
For maintaining total green cover area
in the manufacturing unit premises,
250 KLD water is required per day.
The requirement is met through usage
of entire treated effluent (150 KLD),
fresh water (10-80 KLD) during dry
season and rain water is utilized
during the raining days.
