EMPOWERMENT TECHNOLOGIES Quarter 1 – Module 1

Information Communication Technology (ICT) - is an umbrella term referring to

communication hardware or software that allows the access, storage, transmission and
manipulation of information.
ICT in the Philippines- ICT has greatly contributed to how easy our lives have been today. Our gadgets
have become part of our necessity that we check on them after we wake up. It made communication
easier. We can use cellular phones that are designed for communicating with other people even they
are far away. It assists us in our daily works.

ICT -is also comprised of software, applications and platforms that allows information to be
accessed, stored, transmitted and manipulated.
Wi-Fi - is a wireless technology used to connect computers, tablets, smartphones and other devices to
the internet.

Online - Online is a state of being connected to the cyberspace through a medium of internet.
Platforms - are group of technologies that are used as a base upon which other applications or
technologies are developed.
