Physics Practical Exam Paper

The document outlines the experiments and activities for the AISSCE Practical Examination in Physics. It includes 4 experiments in Section A on determining resistivity of a wire, resistance of a wire and galvanometer, and verifying laws of series resistance. Section B includes 4 experiments on determining focal length of a concave mirror, plotting I-V characteristics of a p-n junction diode, determining refractive index of a prism, and finding focal length using a convex mirror and concave lens. It also lists 5 circuit activities like assembling electrical circuits, identifying circuit components, and using a multimeter.

AISSCE PRACTICAL EXAMINATION (2024)

SUBJECT – PHYSICS (042)

TIME: 3 Hours MM: 30

SECTION- A
Experiment No-1: To determine resistivity of a wire by plotting a graph for potential
difference versus current.
Experiment No-2: To find resistance of a given wire using meter bridge.
Experiment No-3: To determine the resistance of galvanometer by half deflection method
and to find it’s figure of merit.
Experiment No-4: To verify the laws of combination (series) of resistance using a meter
bridge.

SECTION- B
Experiment No-1: To find the value of v for different values of u in case of a concave mirror
and to find the focal length.
Experiment No-2: To draw the I-V characteristic curve for a p-n junction diode in forward
and reverse biasing.

Experiment No-3: To determine angle of minimum deviation for a given prism by plotting a
graph between angle of incidence and angle of deviation and hence
determine the refractive index of material of the prism.
Experiment No-4: To find the focal length of a convex mirror using a concave lens.
ACTIVITIES:

1. To assemble the components of a given electrical circuit.

2. To draw the diagram of a given open circuit comprising at least a battery, resistor/rheostat,
key, ammeter and voltmeter. Mark the components that are not connected in proper order and
correct the circuit and also the circuit diagram.
3. To assemble a household circuit comprising three bulbs, three (on/off) switches, a fuse and a
power source.
4. To identify a diode, an LED, a resistor and a capacitor from a mixed collection of such items.
5. Use of multimeter to see the unidirectional flow of current in case of a diode and an LED and
check whether a given electronic component (e.g., diode) is in working order.
