The waratah (Telopea speciosissima) is a member of the Proteaceae family and is best known for its

large, bright red inflorescences. It is endemic to Australia and is the floral emblem of NSW. The waratah
is protected under the NSW Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, and picking its flowers is prohibited.
