Life / Life-Changing Experiences
ADVANCED I - Class 2

In this class, you will learn words and expressions related to the sort of personalities and the
way someone generally sees life and the future around oneself. By the end, you will be able to
talk and describe people's personalities and moods to confront life.

Reading, answering questions, analyzing sentences, practicing vocabulary, watching videos,

and participating in this unit forum to share ideas/questions with your teacher and some
classmates.

You will need:

1. A great attitude to learn!

2. Your Summit 1 Student's book & Workbook (printed, copied or digital)
3. A dictionary (printed or any online). See the English in context section.

Some studies about personality types were developed by Isabel Briggs Myers and her
mother, Katharine Briggs, in the 1960s. Myers and Briggs proposed that there were four key

Your perspective on life determines how you relate to people, how you handle relationships
and troubles, and how you live day-to-day. You may not realize how important your perspective
on life is because we often feel that as long as other people’s opinions and decisions do not
affect us, ours should not affect other people.

Optimistic people see the best in the world and

expect all the best things to happen. They tend to
believe that when one door closes another door
opens, which is a buffer against stress; on the
contrary, pessimistic people expect the worst in
every situation. In business, a pessimistic mood
prevents people from investing. If you're pessimistic,
you see a beautiful waterfall and assume you're
going to die in it even though you can avoid going
through it.
