I choose question 2: Cultures do have influence(s) on our communication. What should
we do to communicate effectively in our life and/or work?
In today's modern multicultural workforce, communication problems may become more
challenging. Since each culture has its own set of implicit prejudices and tendencies in face-
to-face talks, it can be difficult to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries.
“Communication and culture are inseparable.” 1 Therefore, culture has a significant impact
on how we communicate. We share information with others while working or interacting
with others, and we understand the information shared with them. Following these
recommendations can help people to recognize issues, deal with them, and improve their
communication because their culture's characteristics affect these interactions.

The first recommendation for effective communication is to connect with your audience.
The sender and receiver are the two required subjects in a communication process. There
can be no communication if the sender and the recipient are not connected. It is often
considered that sending information is an act of communication. The process of
communication is two-way. As a result, we must pay attention to our audience and allow
them to share their opinions. When there is effective communication, ideas are freely
exchanged. Remember to take turns speaking to help the discussion flow more naturally.
When making your point, give the other person time to respond. Speaking to individuals in
brief conversations rather than presenting a long monologue that they might find difficult to
follow is better, especially avoiding using slang. Even the most educated non-native English
speaker won't fully comprehend all of the slang, idioms, and sayings used in English.
Although they might comprehend each word you spoke individually, they could not
understand the context or meaning. As a result, you can end up confusing them or, at worst,
offending them.

Secondly, pay attention and comprehend well. The most annoying aspect of communication
is when the other person is not paying attention to what we are saying. As a result, many
misunderstandings and misinterpretations occur. It should be remembered that the most
critical aspect of communication—and possibly the most crucial aspect of effective
communication—is the outcome. The person we are speaking to should understand both his

or our points of view. Therefore, we must always check for understanding to ensure that our
communication is effective. When speaking with others, we often focus on our next words.
But listening is more important than talking when it comes to good communication. When
we listen well, we take in more than just the words or the information being shared; we also
take in the feelings the speaker is trying to express. A key tip for improvement is active
listening. Ask questions frequently and summarize or repeat the other person's words to be
sure you have gotten them correctly. This encourages communication and avoids the
missing or misunderstanding of important information.

Thirdly, to comprehend that people use to express more than just the basic meaning of
words. More than any words could ever convey, the way you look, listen, move, and
respond to another person reveals more about your feelings to them. Nonverbal cues, often
known as body language, include your posture, tone of voice, eye contact, body language,
and even your breathing and muscular tension. To be more clear, we need to be able to
decode messages from others' body language as well. Understanding and using nonverbal
communication can help you connect with others, explain what you mean, deal with
difficult situations, and create stronger connections at home and work. For example,
maintaining eye contact and using open body language, such as keeping the arms free from
a cross or standing or sitting up straight, can improve the effectiveness of good
communication.

Additionally, boosting your confidence is another method for enhancing your

communication skills. By using their voice volume, pitch, diction, and word choice to
convey confidence, effective communicators can also express self-assurance. Confidence
and self-esteem can be greatly boosted by being able to explain oneself simply and clearly,
which will gain over both students and colleagues.

Last but not least, we should respect others by avoiding questioning when they are speaking.
We can wait until they have finished speaking. The communicator may become annoyed by
interruptions or maybe forget the important information that needs to be conveyed to us. As
a result, it is advised to show respect and pay close attention. We can ask later if we have

any questions. Always be respectful when speaking with a communicator, try to be as clear
as you can, and respect them when they respond.

These are the four recommendations for communicating effectively. Although it seems
simple, the hardest rule to follow is likely this one. Furthermore, they demonstrate to be
quite practical and beneficial, which helps in our development as effective communicators.
Being a great communicator is a life skill that is highly valuable and may work wonders for
creating and maintaining effective social, personal, familial, and business relationships in
the future. Communication flows more easily and is carried out more successfully when the
message is clear, the speaker maintains balance in their emotions, has a clear perspective,
and expresses themselves honestly.
