Creating a design layout (blueprint): dividing my shoe into
different shapes to transform into 3D

Simplifying element of my shoe

Cutting up the paper shoe blueprint and Once i was happy with my design I used my paper
sticking it together as a mock up design blueprint as a template to cut out my cardboard
(Paper Maquette) pieces
Sample Board: regard to possible
uses of and manipulation of card to
use as a point of reference.
When creating my
shoes sole I used a
technique called scoring
(this is creating slits in
the corrugated
cardboard with a
scissors), this will allow
my shoes sole to bend
upwards at the front and
back making it look
more realist to the
primary source.

To keep the upwards shape of the sole I used tabs of

cardboard and glued them on to the sole when bending
Slowly building up the sides of the runner by
gluing cardboard to the base, firstly the rubber
sole then the sides, back and front using my
template
To create the detail in the front of the
shoe I cut out the shape in cardboard
leaving some extra cardboard to glue to
the bottom of the shoe

Before gluing down I

peeled the layers of the
cardboard off leaving one
layer to stick to the shoe
as I don’t want it to stick
out too much.
Building up more layers on to the
shoe, adding thinner different
coloured cardboard for the finer
details.
