EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The health care system of the Philippines is said to
be fragmented and inadequate. This proposal
focuses on countries Philippines should form
alliance with namely Singapore, Japan, Canada and
South Korea in improving the health care services of
the country. The association will upgrade the
country’s medical assistance by building resilience,
patient centered and inclusive health care system.
INTRODUCTION
The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed
weaknesses in the country's healthcare system.
Limited access to healthcare services,
particularly in disadvantaged areas, and
inadequate infrastructure and resources have
hindered the country's ability to respond
effectively to the crisis. Majority of Filipino
people lack access to basic healthcare and the
industry has not yet embraced digitalization.
Looking through the loophole could be an
opportunity for the Philippines to improve the
health care services and forming partnership
with countries that are well-functioning and
patient centered.
CONCLUSION
The collaborative work of alliance between countries
can help better perform health care services in the
Philippines. This association will act as a way out for
the country’s inadequacy and an answer for the
limited access of medical assistance. Implementing
these recommendations would require strong
political commitment, adequate funding, and
collaboration between allied countries , health care
providers, civil society organizations, and
communities. The goal is to build a quality health
service for al Filipinos
POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS
·Embrace digital health solutions
Leverage technology and digital health solutions to
improve access, efficiency, and quality of care. This
includes telemedicine, electronic health records,
health monitoring apps, and health information
platforms. Japan embraces advanced medical
technology and innovation, leading to improved
diagnosis, treatment, and patient outcomes making it
an ideal partner.
·Universal health coverage
People have access to full range quality health care
services. Implementing a system ensuring that all
citizens and foreign residents have access to
affordable health care services in alliance with South
Korea. Canada offers universal health care coverage
to all Canadian citizens and permanent residents. It
aims to provide access to medically necessary health
care services, regardless of a person's income or
employment status similar to Japan.
·Preventive care and health promotions
Place greater emphasis on preventive measures such
as health education, vaccinations, screenings, and
early detection programs. Invest in health promotion
campaigns to raise awareness about healthy lifestyles,
nutrition, and disease prevention. Leveraging Japan’s
impressive life expectancy rates, placing a strong
emphasis on preventive care, regular health check-
ups, and health education initiatives.
·Foster internationals collaboration
Engage in international forums to exchange best
practices, research findings, and policy insights. By
forming an alliance with Singapore, the Philippines
can learn from their best practices and could provide
the opportunity for knowledge sharing, skills
development, and capacity building within the
Philippine health care system. By collaborating with
countries like Japan, Canada, Singapore and South
Korea can help boost the country’s medical assistance
to its citizens.
