Art appreciation: Assessment#3

1. Examine a work of art in your home or community and identify its features which
you appreciate and cite instances when the artists’ work may influence your ways of
life, feelings and thoughts.

 This art was made by my childhood friend. I enjoy this kind of work of art. My friend
created this piece of art. I value his work; it was his present to me during my debut. I
applaud his efforts to portray me, and I chose to display it because of the incredible art he
created and the effort he put into it. I love how he drew me exactly during my eighteen
roses. I noticed him capturing me and wondered as to why he did so. He sent me his
artwork as a gift the day after my debut. I adore this type of gift because I am interested
in this kind of art, and I am sentimental too. To elaborate, I am interested in art too; in
fact, I have different kinds of arts such as drawing, poetry, and music. Now, I am
interested in painting. These arts influence my feelings and thoughts. Every time I saw
his work, I had a friend that appreciated me as a friend. And how I am sentimental
because I so much appreciate this kind of present. Every time I see his art, I am reminded
that I have friends who value my relationship with them. And I often think about how
sentimental I am since I appreciate this type of present so much. I put it in a frame to
make it look more formal so I could display it.
2. Write a reflection and general impressions on the texts and lessons about the
Functions of Art and Philosophy/Subject/Content/Artists and Artisans.

 Based on what I have learned in class, arts are classified and serve distinct
purposes. So, in philosophy, like in art, history is extremely important. Whereas
every great philosopher is unique in his intellectual and moral worth, he teaches
us to understand the world and ourselves deeply and carefully. However, this was
the first time I heard that artists who work with painting, pen, or drawing are
referred to as "Artists," whilst those who deal with jewelry, poetry, or glasswork
are referred to as "Artisans." We also examined what art is in society. Apart from
being a work of art, art is also a way to communicate with others, as well as to
society, as a tool of self-expression. Arts are important in helping people
comprehend their emotions and their surroundings. Society issues motivate artists’
more than formal properties. In other words, artists are engaged by their
surroundings. For instance, painting, poet, and music. They are using these pieces
of art to speak out their opinions about our society, Furthermore, through art we
engaged too through education because of the sculpture, images, and stories
behind the art. The study of the arts provides deeper meaning through expression
and aids in our comprehension of our emotions and the presentation of
information. It transforms our thoughts and feelings into reality, resulting in
increased understanding of culture. Therefore, without art, the aspect of reality
would be intolerable. The most important thing is through art, we express our
feelings to society.
