NR SRS antenna switching

Objective:
Configure SRS resources with scheme/usage “AntennaSwitching” to let UE transmit SRS on UE RX
antennas and measure the SRS signals with CMX500.
SRS transmission shall be analyzed in SA and NSA/ENDC scenario

Prerequisites:
- Connect DUT to CMX500 RFxCOM ports with all MIMO antennas (run the Sequencer script
“AETraining_CS_HandsOn” before continuing with this exercise to ensure correct DUT configuration)
- Configure DUT in CMX500 to minimum ensure at least one TX/RX antenna as main antenna
- Configure corenetwork for NSA test (EPS TA with LTE cell and NR cell) or SA test (5G TA with NR
cell)
- Open and read Application note for SRS antenna switching background and details
- Note: The current SRS configuration doesn’t support the cancelation of setting nor disabling SRS
configuration, even the GUI appears to support this.
Task:
1. Measure SRS signals in SA connection
a. First check UE capabilities in terms of support SRS-antennaSwitching (IE supportedSRS-
TxPortSwitch) (details are described in App.Note)
b. Configure matching SRS setting for NR cell with scheme “AntennaSwitching” in CMX
c. Ensure that PUSCH is disabled for configured SRS slot
d. Measure SRS signal with GPRF IQ Recorder on each UE TX port
e. Measure SRS signal with FR1 SRS TX measurement on each UE TX port
2. Measure SRS signals in NSA connection
a. First check UE capabilities in terms of support SRS-antennaSwitching (IE supportedSRS-
TxPortSwitch) (details are described in App.Note)
b. Configure matching SRS setting for NR cell with scheme “AntennaSwitching” in CMX
c. Ensure that PUSCH is disabled for configured SRS slot
d. Measure SRS signal with GPRF IQ Recorder on each UE TX port
e. Measure SRS signal with FR1 SRS TX measurement on each UE TX port

Solution:
Please check the Application Note for the test procedure and TX measurement verification.
Note that the Application Note only refers to logical RF ports and it needs to be adapted to the real RF ports
where the UE is connected. Please check the DUT connector/connections to find out the main and diversity
antenna and measure on those.
Hint: When changing the measurement connection setting while measurement is running or in Ready state
then the next measurement start can lead to trigger timeout if the connection is changed to a different RFU.
The solution is to turn off the measurement and start again.

The Quectel UE only supports SA with 2T4R and NSA/ENDC with 1T2R.
