RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION AT SOCIAL WORK CENTER –

DOLISA HANOI

You are the Director of Social Work Center, which belong to Department of Labor –
Invalids and Social Affair of Hanoi. One of key functions of the Social Work Center
is specialized in gender issues to ensure women have an equal and equitable
opportunity in Vietnam society. In particular the center focuses on early child sex
education (boys and girls), health issues, protection of under aged and abused maid
servants, support for unwanted pregnancies, self-esteem and related life skill issues.

Social Work Center recognizes there are many aspects in this diverse topic that
require urgent action but as they have limited funding they need to specialize in

certain areas. They also seek to carry the message into the provinces as well as cities
as many women in the provinces are badly treated and much of this can go unnoticed.
They also recognize that gender issues cover both genders, but they have to see that
the most immediate work needs to be done for women and girls. Their early
childhood work covers both genders as both sides of this intricate formula need to be
tackled. Thus, one of the center’s five year goals is to establish a related organization
that can continue their work in educating young boys as they see that much of their
work for girls can be supported if boys have quality continuing education in gender
issues. They believe this will ultimately reduce abuse of women in the future.

Social Work Center have 12 trainers who spend most of their time out working at
schools, in communities and at women centers throughout Vietnam.
