Job Description
The Weekly Activities & Events Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, management, and
support of weekly events and other activities on campus as well as the development and mentorship of a
student council that assists in running and improving activities and events. Over 300 student activities
are planned and repeated yearly. These activities foster the Spirit of BYU-Idaho and assist students in
becoming leaders in their homes, the Church, and their communities.
To help continue developing and growing this area, we’re seeking an experienced events coordinator to
oversee the processes and communications of weekly activities. This person is responsible for the
compliance and communication elements of weekly events in BYU-Idaho Campus Life and works
alongside the Campus Life Director in support of the following key functions:
• Coordinate with all necessary campus departments to ensure proper resources are scheduled
for events including location, AV needs, custodial needs, ticketing, and social media
• Manage budget and purchases for events, activities, and department needs
• Oversee hiring processes each semester to continually build the weekly activities student team
• Ensure quality control of events and develop contingencies for potential complications
• Develop and maintain a positive and supportive working environment
• Encourage and lift up student employees in their areas, “Lead With a Small ‘l’”
• Create and manage the activities and events calendars
• Work closely with other Council Directors to help develop campus wide events
The ideal candidate will have a sharp attention to detail, proven success in developing and running
events, managing operational checklists, and the ability to develop people, and build relationships of
trust.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
• Two or more years of proven success in an events management role
• Proven ability to develop student leaders within higher education
• Excellent ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational
control of center operations and customer service
• Proficiency in conflict management, business negotiation, and compliance processes
• Established marketing, communication, and production knowledge
• Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new
applications
Skills:
• Working knowledge of task management software programs
• Strong interpersonal and relationship development skills
• Professional demeanor and ability to remain calm under pressure
• Proven attention to detail
• Strong leadership and organizational Skills
• Established skills in budget development and oversight
• Ability to problem-solve quickly on the fly
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud is a huge plus!
Required Certifications:
BYU-Idaho driving permit(s) required to operate certain types of campus vehicles (12-
passenger vans, utility vehicles, ‘gators,’ etc.).

Work Schedule
Regular Schedule:
Monday – Fridays 8am – 5pm
Weekend / Holiday / On Call:
Period of long hours, evening and weekend hours, and some holidays will be required
intermittently throughout the semester. Must be available by cell phone when not in
attendance or as needed.
Travel:
Overnight travel may be required up to a few times per year.
