Applying Interactive Multimedia Program Through Side by Side (SBS)


Software for Improving Students’s Speaking Skill at SMAN 7 Bandar
Lampung

Yasmine (2015: 5) states that speaking is one of the most important parts of
comunication. Side by Side (SBS) software can be an alternative to teach
speaking to the students. It provides interactive video, audio, graphics, and text to
suport students with powerful learning tools. There are some problems faced at
the tenth grade students of SMAN7 Bandar Lampung. First, the students did not
speak much, they make many mistakes in grammar and pronunciation, their
vocabulary is very low. The objectives of this research are to find out the suitable
materials which meet the students’ needs to improve their speaking skill, to
describe how use of Interactive Multimedia Program through Side By Side (SBS)
Software improve students’ speaking skill Student’s Speaking Skill at SMAN 7
Bandar Lampung, to investigate the students’ response after learning speaking
through Side By Side (SBS) software. The results revealed that Side by Side
application can be an alternative for the teacher to apply in the classroom, Side by
Side provides (SBS) some complete features which can lead the students to
engage the application well, the students give the positive response toward Side
by Side (SBS) software.
