Mechanics for Reading Contest

PRE-SCHOOL LEVEL
(SELECTION FOR THE READER OF THE YEAR and DALUBHASA SA PAGBASA NG
TAON)
1. This contest is open for all levels (nursery, pre-kinder, and kinder). However, each level will
have different top 1 reader of the year, including each level in preschool.
2. Coaching is not allowed. Doing so will make the contestant disqualified in the contest.
3. The contest is subject to two categories namely English and Filipino. The winners for English
category are not allowed to join the Filipino category to give chance to others or vice versa.
4. The reading materials are provided by the teachers and are suitable for the respective levels.
5. Contestants will be judged/selected according to the following criteria indicated herein:
For Nursery, Pre-Kinder and Kinder:
Mastery 50%
Speed 25%
Diction/Pronunciation 15%
Stage Presence 10%
TOTAL 100%
6. In the criterion of mastery, deduction system will be applied. Each wrong word/syllable read by
the contestants will be deducted by one (1) point.
7. In each category, five winners will be selected in each level (including each level for preschool)
and the top 1 contestant in each level will have the title as the ‘Reader of the Year’ and
‘Dalubhasa sa Pagbasa ng Taon’. They will receive certificate on the day of awarding.
8. The decision of the judges is final.
9. Once a contestant has participated in this event, he/she is already aware that certain risks may
inherent under the RA No. 10175 otherwise known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of
2012, and other related laws regulation and that their photos and videos may be spread in
social media. All contestants shall automatically acknowledge that Mary’s Bright Montessori
School is not responsible for any harm or damage that might occur.

Mechanics for Spelling Contest


PRE-SCHOOL LEVEL
(SELECTION FOR THE SPELLER OF THE YEAR and DALUBHASA SA PAGBAYBAY NG
TAON)
1. This contest is open for all levels (nursery, pre-kinder, kinder, and elementary). However,
each level will have different top 1 speller of the year, including each level in preschool.
2. The contest is subject to two categories namely English and Filipino. The winners for English
category are not allowed to join the Filipino category or vice versa to give chance to other
pupils.
3. The words to be spelled in the contest proper cover what had been given beforehand.
4. This contest is consists of three (3) categories:
Easy round – one (1) point for each correctly spelled word
Average round – two (2) points for each correctly spelled words
Difficult round – three (3) points for each correctly spelled words
5. There will be ten (10) words to be spelled in each category.
6. Each contestant should prepare a pad paper (Grade I), pencil, and eraser.
7. The teacher will tell each word to be spelled and the contestant have to write their spelled
words in their pad paper. The time limit to answer is twenty (20) seconds for easy round,
twenty-five (25) seconds for average round, and thirty (30) seconds for the difficult round.
Note: Time limits in spelling is applicable for Kinder level only.
8. Consonant Letters b, d, p, and g, and vowels a, o, u should be written correctly. The facilitator
can give the meaning of the words to be spelled. Example: sea, see

10. There will be no breaking of ties.
11. For the selection of winners, the top five pupils in each level with the highest scores will be the
winners. The contest Champion in each level will have the title as the “Speller of the Year’’ (English)
and Dalubhasa sa Pagbaybay ng Taon” (Filipino). They will receive a certificate on the day of
awarding

12. Once a contestant has participated in this event, he/she is already aware that certain risks may

Mechanics for Math & Science Quiz Bee Contest
PRE-SCHOOL LEVEL
1. This contest is open for kinder students. However, each session will have different champion in
each category.
2. Coaching and cheating is not allowed during the performance. Doing so will make the
contestant disqualified in the contest.
3. The contest is subject to two categories namely Mathematics and Science. The winners for
Mathematics category are not allowed to join the Science category to give chance to others or
vice versa.
4. For Mathematics and Science category, the pointers to review will be given beforehand.
5. Test paper will be provided by the teacher.
6. Late contestant(s) will never be given consideration for the missed item/s.
7. The time limit to answer the question is one (1) hour. When the time is up, the teacher will
collect their test paper.
8. There will be no breaking of ties.
9. In each category, the top five students in each session with the highest scores will be the
winners and the top 1 contestant in each session will have the title as the ‘Champion’. They
will receive a certificate on the day of awarding.

Mechanics for Synonyms & Antonyms Contest


PRE-SCHOOL LEVEL
1. This contest is open for kinder pupils.
2. Coaching and cheating is not allowed during the performance. Doing so will make the
contestant disqualified in the contest.
3. For Synonyms & Antonyms category, the pointers to review will be given beforehand.
4. Each contestant should prepare a pad paper (Grade I), pencil, and eraser.
5. This contest consists of three (3) categories:
Easy round – Multiple choice (I point for each correct answered)
Average round - Multiple choice (2 points for each correct answered)
Difficult round – three (3) points for each correctly spelled words
6. Late contestant(s) will never be given consideration for the missed item/s.
7. The time limit to answer is twenty (20) seconds for easy round, twenty-five (25) seconds for
average round, and thirty (30) seconds for the difficult round.
8. There will be no breaking of ties.
9. In each category, the top five students in each session with the highest scores will be the
winners and the perfect score contestant in each session will have the title as the ‘Champion’.
They will receive a certificate on the day of awarding.

Mechanics for Draw and Tell /Coloring Contest


PRE-SCHOOL LEVEL
1. This contest is open for Nursery, Pre-Kinder, and Kinder students. However, each session of
the said level will have different champion in each category.
2. This contest is consist of two parts:
Part I - Draw : maximum of 1 hour
Part II – Tell : maximum of 5 minutes per learner
All outputs should be given on or before the given time but not after the time allotted doing so
will subjected to disqualification of the contestant.
3. Coaching and cheating is not allowed during the performance.
4. Any materials needed for the contest will be provided by the contestants.
Materials needed:
Long size bond paper
Color (8 colors only)
4. Late contestant(s) will never be given consideration.
5. Contestants will be judged/selected according to the following criteria indicated herein:
Theme: Healthy, Nourished, Sheltered: Ensuring the right to life for all

winners and the top 1 contestant in each session will have the title as the ‘Champion’. They
will receive a certificate on the day of awarding.

Mechanics for Story Telling & Poem Recitation Contest
PRE-SCHOOL LEVEL
1. This contest is open for Nursery, Pre-Kinder, and Kinder students. However, each session will
have different champion in each level.
2. Coaching and cheating is not allowed during the performance. Doing so will make the
contestant disqualified in the contest.
3. This contest is subject to two categories namely English and Filipino.
4. Each contestant should only join one category to give chance to other pupils.
5. Props/costume may be used by the contestants during the Championship Round ONLY. It may
not affect the over all performance of the pupils.
Note: Separate award will be given to the contestant.
6. Contestants will be judged/selected according to the following criteria indicated herein:
Story Telling Contest: (Pre-Kinder and Kinder)
Mastery 50%
Voice, tone, diction, & pronunciation 30%
Expression, art, style, & stage presence 20%
TOTAL 100%
Poem Recitation Contest: (for Nursery, Pre-Kinder and Kinder)

Mechanics for Singing Contest
PRE-SCHOOL LEVEL
1. This contest is open for Nursery, Pre-Kinder, and Kinder students.
2. Each contestant is allowed to select any song during the elimination round. However, only one
song will be use/perform during the championship round.

For championship round:


 NURSERY – any song (except nursery rhymes)
 PREKINDER – Ang Bawat Bata song by: Apo Hiking Society
 KINDER – I Am But A Small Voice song by: Leah Salonga
NOTE: All pieces must be prepared by each contestant. Any musical instruments are
allowed. (minus one will be used during their performance)
3. Coaching and cheating is not allowed during the performance. Doing so will make the
contestant disqualified in the contest.
4. Contestants will be judged/selected according to the following criteria indicated herein:
Singing Contest: (for Nursery, Pre-Kinder and Kinder)
Voice Quality and Projection 40%
Rhythm 10%
Dynamics 10%
Diction 15%
Mastery 25%
TOTAL 100%
5. . In each category, the top five students in each session with the highest scores will be the
winners and the top 1 contestant in each session will have the title as the ‘Champion’. They
will receive a certificate on the day of awarding.

Mechanics for Writing Contest


PRE-SCHOOL LEVEL
1. This contest is open for all levels (nursery, pre-kinder, and kinder). However, each session will
have different champion in each level.
2. Coaching is not allowed. Doing so will make the contestant disqualified in the contest.
3. Each contestant should prepare pencils, eraser, and pad paper
(Grade 1).
4. Contestants will be judged/selected according to the following criteria indicated herein:
For Nursery, Pre-Kinder and Kinder:
Speed (time limit: 30 minutes) 30%
Accuracy and Precision of the word in the story 50%
Neatness and Readability 20%
TOTAL 100%
5. The top five (5) students in each session with the highest scores will be the winners and the top
1 contestant in each session will have the title as the “Champion”. They will receive a
certificate on the day of awarding.
6. The decision of the judges is final.
