Family Genogram and Structure

Interviewee: A.H.C.
The family structure is extended and matriarchal, led by the daughter E.V. in all aspect
of financial management, health management, and decision making of the family. E.V. is
separated from his husband and the only male in the family is her son D.V. and her
sibling N.C. living in the same roof. The client stated that her family relationship is in
harmony and free of severe conflicts and always had resolutions. Family fights are not
as often as disciplining M.C.V. The client state that they earn as much as to get by
around 20,000 pesos family income and 400 pesos daily expenses. They are able to
meet and afford their needs such as Food, Clothes, Home, and monthly bills.
B. Home and Environmental Factors
B.1. Housing
The house and land are owned by the family. The house is made of concrete with 7
visible sliding windows and the terrace have no railings and 4 steps high. The client
stated they are powered by electricity through Meralco, have refrigerator, gas stove, and
faucet with running water and sink. Have level 2 toilet facility; flush type sealed toilet with
septic tank. Their water supply is through public water service of Indang water district.
And they drink mineral water in a jug container bought from the mineral water station
nearby. Their area has presence of mosquitos, flies, cockroaches, and rodents. Though
they rarely see flies in swarm because they manage and segregate, they garbage and
are collected by the barangay garbage collector. Covered canal system that could house
rodents. They have 2 dogs and 1 cat. Client stated they had more cats before but died.
B.2. Neighborhood
The neighborhood is not congested and according to the client’s statement, the
barangay is peaceful and that is safe to go out at night. There’s seldom conflict but often
internalized by the barangay workers.
B.3. Social and Recreational Facility
The barangay has basketball court, a swimming resort, and a church. The client states
she involve herself to the community and in the church. And his grandson plays
basketball in the basketball court often.
B.4. Communication and Transportation
The family means of transportation is public transportation vehicles such as jeep, bus,
and tricycle in and around the barangay. A.H.C. stated that she often rides jeep when
going to town and M.C.V. rides tricycle and jeep when going to school. E.V. often walks
as her work is just near to their house.

The client couldn’t remember which hospital they went to and complete details about
their medications.
D. Family Planning
Both of A.H.C. and E.V. have already menopaused and is not using any family planning
method. They stated they aren’t interested in sexual activity, N.H.C. is not present when
the interview happened. M.C.V. stated that he hasn’t had any experience related to
sexual intercourse.
E. Dental Care
As stated by E.C.V. The family visits dentist at least once every two years especially
when needed to update their health records for work. And almost every 6 months for
A.H.C for her dentures.

The family goes to check up without even illness, or for the purpose of medico-legal for
work and school requirement for M.C.V. The family visits health centers, clinics and
hospital, and they consult with doctors and dentist, in Trece Martires, Cavite.

The family eats balanced restricted diet that are low in sodium because of heart
conditions, avoids beans because of uric acid. They are maintaining proper weight
except for Esperanza who is overweight.

Interpretation: The family is overall competent in most areas. They are knowledgeable of their
health condition because they know about the medication and stated that they are being careful
but they regularly visit their doctors because they are aware of their conditions. But the family
got a score of 2 in the use of community facilities because they stated that they often use
private clinics and hospital for medical checkup and surgical operations. They go to checkups
for medico-legal for work requirement purposes and school requirement in Trece Martires,
Cavite. Clinics they use are MultiLab Diagnostics but A.H.C. visits General Emilio Aguinaldo
Memorial Hospital for checkups.
