Subject Need your help ✩
Hi Noah,

You know that I’m looking for a room. I’ve just found this ad about a spare room to rent. I think I meet
the requirements and I’d like to apply but I need to hear your opinion first.

The ad has been placed by Lisa (21, a student). The flat has two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and
a bathroom. Lisa occupies one of the bedrooms and wants to rent the other one. Here is what she requires
of a candidate for a flatmate:

a full-time course student.

1 You need to be 1 __________________
I’m a medical student, so it’s like even more than a full-time course 

hang around in the flat

2 You shouldn’t 2 __________________ during the day.
Well, I wouldn’t because I work long hours at the hospital. Besides twice a month or whenever I can,
visit my parents
I am off to 3 __________________.

3 You shouldn’t cook meat in the kitchen. (It’s because she 4 __________________.)
I can’t cook and I often eat out, so I guess I can tick it off.

become your friend

4 You shouldn’t expect Lisa to 5 __________________.
Fine with me. (She says she is shy, but to me she seems quite assertive.)

5 You should keep quiet at night. No binge-watching TV or making noise.

6 You shouldn’t invite 7 __________________ at a time.
That sounds strict. Maybe she would change her mind with time??

share the cleaning with Lisa.

7 You should be neat and tidy and 8 __________________
This actually sounds perfect to me.

Noah, please read her ad in full and tell me your thoughts.

Lisa says she’s easy-going. Well, is she???

Please advise me if I should apply.

Many thanks,

Martin
