Radiographic Tips
• Developmental age determined from radiographs may vary within normal from one individual
to another as a result of variation in eruption process.

• Age is given in form of range not precise single age (one year).

• Key of detection is the first permanent molar (or last erupted molar).

• Bifurcation of 6 formed at → 4 .5 years (Crown of 6 completely calcified at 4-5 years)

• Bifurcation of 7 formed at → 8.5 years (Crown of 7 completely calcified at 8-9 years)

• For a tooth to erupt → 1/2 to 2/3 root must be formed

• Root completion of permanent teeth takes 3 years following eruption

• Complete primary dentition → 2-3 years

• Complete permanent dentition → 13-15 years
