Our program
TheGerman courses at the University of Munich eV
are one of the largest language teaching and test
centers in Bavaria for university applicants,
students and guest scientists from all over the
world. In close cooperation with the Munich
universities and on behalf of the LMU Munich, we
regularly offer preparatory and study-related
courses as well as examinations that are required
for studying in Germany.

We are a member of the Fachverband Deutsch als
Fremdsprache (FaDaF), the association of
university-related DaF institutions in Bavaria and
the advisory board for quality assurance for course-
related and pre-course German training at the
LMU.
Please note: Due to Covid-19, there may be

program at short notice and depending on
ministerial decrees.

We are an examination center for the DSH
(German language test for university entrance),
TestDaF, TestAS and telc.
ECTS points

Registration
Who can attend a course?
▪ University applicants

▪ Anyone with an Abitur (= certificate that enables
access to a German university)
You always need:
▪ A school or university certificate from your home
country that entitles you to study in the Federal
Republic of Germany.
▪ A copy of your certificate. For all certificates that
are not in Latin script, we require a copy of the
original with a certified translation.

How are you assigned to a course?
▪ The allocation to the correct course module is
based on an online placement test for the
intensive courses from module 2 onwards.
▪ You take the online test two to four weeks
before the start of the course.
▪ You are not free to choose the course module,
the result of the placement test is binding.

What do you need to present when registering?
▪ The completed registration form
▪ Copy of school or university certificate (if
necessary with translation)
▪ 60 EUR registration fee (=part of the course
fee, will be deducted from the course fee)
Please note:
The remaining course fee (i.e. the total price
minus the registration fee) must then be paid no
later than two weeks before the start of the
course. Of course, you can also pay the entire
course fee at once.
We do not accept copies of payment receipts.
The number of participants is limited. It is
therefore possible that there are no more places
available before the payment deadline has
expired. We therefore recommend that you
register early and pay the full course fee.
Even if you continue to register for subsequent or
later courses, the full course fee must be credited to
our account no later than 2 weeks before the start
of the course. (See calendar page 5 for payment
deadlines for intensive courses.)

Cancellation / Withdrawal
▪ If you cancel your registration no later than five
working days before the start of the course, you will
receive a refund of the course fee upon request.
▪ The registration fee is non-refundable.
▪ If you unsubscribe later, the entire course
fee will be retained.
▪ If you are only attending our intensive courses in
the second month, you must still adhere to this
cancellation deadline. This means that you
always have to deregister before the start of the
entire course.

In summer we offer the opportunity to attend
one-month general language intensive summer

Terms and Conditions
General terms and conditions of the German courses at the
University of Munich eV (a non-profit registered association)
(hereinafter alsoGerman courses) – as of December 9th, 2020
1. The prerequisite for admission to a course is the
presentation of a university entrance qualification
recognized in Germany in accordance with the rules of the
Central Office for Schools Abroad.
2.The teaching contract is concluded when the registration
confirmation is sent. This assumes that the participant has
paid the registration fee. After receipt of the registration
fee, the registration will be treated as a reservation, this will
expire if the entire course fee is not paid at least 14 days
before the start of the courseGerman courseshas been
received. The registration fees are deducted from the
course fees.
3.By paying the registration fee, the participant accepts the
general terms and conditions of theGerman coursesas
binding.
4.Bank charges are the sole responsibility of the participants. In
the event of a refund, the credit card fee will be deducted.
5.Registrations are generally only possible for entire courses.
Attending parts of a course may be permitted in justified
exceptional cases. The minimum duration for two-month
courses is one half of the course. If only part of the course
is attended in accordance with this regulation, a surcharge
will be added to the proportionate course fee. (The prices
can be found in the current price list.)
6.Properly enrolled students of the following universities receive
a discount for those courses that are listed as reduced in
the current price list: Ludwig-Maximilians-University,
Technical University of Munich, University of Applied
Sciences, Academy of Fine Arts, University of Music,
University of Munich, University of the Bundeswehr Munich,
University of Philosophy Munich, Technical University of
Weihenstephan.
7. The classification into the appropriate course level is based
on a placement test, which usually takes place two to four
weeks before the start of the course.Participation-

Certificates from other language institutes do not replace
the placement test. There is no entitlement to attend a
course level higher than that corresponding to the test
result.
8th.When booking the "Time of day according to availability"
option, wishes will be taken into account when allocating
the participants to the morning and afternoon courses.
However, there is no entitlement to a course place at a
specific time of day. The non-consideration of a
corresponding request does not justify a claim for
reimbursement of the fees.
9.If a course is held as a face-to-face event, the courses take
place at the following locations in Munich: Agnesstraße 27,
Karl-Theodor-Straße 69, rooms of the LMU Munich. There is
no entitlement to a specific location.
10By registering, the participants undertake to attend the
course regularly. Confirmations of attendance can only be
issued for courses that are attended regularly.
11.Advancement to the next higher course level is only possible
after passing the relevant intermediate tests.
12.TheGerman coursesoffer the following paid exams:
▪ telc German B1
▪ telc German B2
▪ German language test for university entrance (DSH)
▪ TestDaF
13.Withdrawal from the tuition contract is only possible up to
five working days before the start of the course. If such a
withdrawal occurs, the course fee will be refunded upon
application, with the registration fee being retained.
This also applies accordingly in the event of revocation. Within
five working days before the start of the course and during the
agreed duration (between the first and the last day of the
course), withdrawal or termination is excluded. There is no right
to termination in accordance with Section 627 of the German
Civil Code (extraordinary termination for services of a higher
nature). The right to termination without notice for important
reasons remains unaffected.

14Withdrawal from an examination is only possible up to the
end of the registration period. If such a withdrawal occurs,
a processing fee will be withheld. (The price can be found
in the current price list.) If you withdraw later, the entire
examination fee will be retained. There is no right to
termination according to § 627 BGB. The right to
termination without notice for important reasons remains
unaffected.
15Notices of termination or withdrawal are only effective if
they are made in writing.
16If a confirmation for submission to a German authority was
issued for the registration, repayments can only be made
after the original of this confirmation has been returned.
17TheGerman coursesreserve the right to combine a course
with another comparable course, to postpone it, to hold it
online or hybrid, or to cancel it due to an insufficient
number of participants or circumstances for which they are
not responsible.
17.1If a course is held as an online or hybrid event, it is the
responsibility of the participant to create the necessary
technical requirements for this.
17.2In the event of withdrawal from the German courses, the
participant will be reimbursed for any fees paid. The
participant cannot assert any further claims, in particular
claims for damages.
18Unless otherwise stated in these General Terms and
Conditions, including the following provisions, theGerman
coursesin the event of a breach of contractual and non-
contractual obligations in accordance with the relevant
statutory provisions. They are liable for damagesGerman
courses
- for whatever legal reason - in the case of intent and gross
negligence. In the event of simple negligence, the German
courses are only liable
a) for damage resulting from injury to life, limb or health,
b) for damages resulting from the breach of a material
contractual obligation (obligation, the fulfillment of which is
essential for the proper execution of the contract and on the
observance of which the contractual partner regularly relies
and may rely); in this case, however, liability is limited to
compensation for the foreseeable, typically occurring
damage.

You can revoke your contract declaration within two weeks in text
form (e.g. letter, fax, e-mail) without giving reasons. The period
begins after receipt of this instruction in text form, but not before
the conclusion of the contract and not before we have fulfilled
our information obligations in accordance with Article 246 § 2 in
conjunction with § 1 Para. 1 and 2 EGBGB. Sending the
cancellation in good time is sufficient to meet the cancellation

Consequences of revocation
In the event of an effective revocation, the services received by
both parties must be returned and any benefits (e.g. interest)
surrendered. If you cannot return the service received to us in
whole or in part, or only in a deteriorated condition, you may
have to pay us compensation for the value. This can mean that
you still have to fulfill the contractual payment obligations for the
period up to the revocation. Obligation to reimburse payments
must be fulfilled within 30 days. The period begins for you when
you send your cancellation notice, for us when we receive it.
Your right of withdrawal expires prematurely if the contract has
been completely fulfilled by both parties at your express request
before you have exercised your right of withdrawal.
