Alain Robert is a climber, but he doesn’t climb mountains, he climbs buildings.

Alain began climbing buildings in 1997, when he climbed three buildings in Sydney, Australia, including the
Sydney Opera House. He has climbed many of the tallest buildings in the world. He climbs with no
equipment and no ropes.

In 2004, he climbed Taipei 101, at that time the tallest building in the world at 1,667 feet. The climb took four
hours – two hours longer than Alain expected – because of rain. Alain did not give up, but kept going until he
reached the top.
He has also climbed both Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia – three times. He was arrested by
the police on the 60th floor the first two times he tried, but when he tried again in 2009, he reached the top. It
was one of his greatest climbs, he says.
His shortest climb was the Slovak Radio Building in Bratislava, Slovakia. This building is only 260 feet tall,
and the climb took Alain less than 20 minutes. His quickest climb was the Amanora Tower in Pune, India.
This climb only took him 12 minutes.
