1.1 Background
To implement easy, flexible, and convenient power distribution for Huawei separated macro
base stations and distributed base stations, to enable the BBU and transmission equipment of
the operators to adapt to adverse environment, and to provide backup power for the separated
macro base stations and distributed base stations, Huawei has introduced the APM30.
1.2 Positioning
The APM30 provides a comprehensive solution for distributed base stations and separated
macro base stations in terms of power distribution, surge protection, installation of the BBU
and transmission equipment, layout of the transmission cables, and DC power backup. The
rollout of the APM30 meets the requirements of fast network construction.
2 Key Benefits
2.1 Functions
The APM30 provides distributed base stations and separated macro base stations with the -48
V DC power and backup power from batteries. The APM30 provides space for the installation
of the BBU and transmission equipment. In addition, the APM30 performs the functions such
as battery management, monitoring and communication of the power system, surge protection,
and temperature control.
The auxiliary equipment of the APM30 is the transmission cabinet and battery cabinet, which
provide the following functions:
The transmission cabinet provides a space of 11 U for user devices.
The battery cabinet provides backup power of up to 48 V 184 Ah.
2.4 Maintainability
The cables are led out of the APM30 from the cabinet bottom. You can replace faulty parts,
maintain the external ports, and connect the cables from the front of the APM30. The rectifier
and the monitoring module are hot-swappable. Therefore, the maintenance of the APM30 is
easy and convenient.

3.1.1 Appearance and Structure
Figure 3-1 shows the APM30.
NOTE
The heater is optional for the APM30. When the APM30 cabinet is configured with batteries,
the heater is installed in the bottom 3 U space.
3.1.2 Functions
The APM30 provides distributed base stations and separated macro base stations with the -48
V DC power and backup power from batteries. It has space for the installation of the BBU
and transmission equipment. In addition, the APM30 performs the functions such as battery
management, monitoring and communication of the power system, surge protection, and
temperature control, as shown in Table 3-1.

3.2.2 Functions
Housing 48 V 50 Ah, 48 V 92 Ah, or 48 V 184 Ah battery groups, the battery cabinet can be
used with the APM30 to meet the requirements of distributed base stations and separated
macro base stations for power backup over a relatively long period.
By combining two 48 V 50 Ah battery groups, the APM30 provides 48 V 100 Ah backup
power.
By combining two 48 V 92 Ah battery groups, the APM30 provides 48 V 184 Ah backup
power.
Figure 3-6 shows the internal structure of the APM30 transmission cabinet.
3.3.2 Functions
The APM30 transmission cabinet provides the following functions:
Providing nine DC outputs and reporting surge protection alarms when configured with
the DCDU-03
Providing a space of 11 U for user devices
Reporting alarms related to the breathable film monitoring system and door status sensor
