Chapter 1
Overview
Table of Contents
Product Position .........................................................................................................1-1
Product Features........................................................................................................1-1
Product Functions ......................................................................................................1-1

1.1 Product Position

The ZXDT02–PU is a solar power unit with the photovoltaic input interface. It supports
DC/DC conversion to transform solar energy into DC. The rated output voltage of the
ZXDT02–PU is 53.5 V and its maximum output current is 55 A.

1.2 Product Features

The ZXDT02–PU solar power unit has the following features:
l High energy utilization ratio
The static precision of MPPT is up to 99.9% and the dynamic one to 99.5%, both of
which improve the power generation capability of the solar battery panel, and thus the
higher energy utilization ratio.
l Convenient expansion and flexible configuration
à The ZXDT02–PU uses the modular design and expansion can be achieved by
adding modules.
à The ZXDT02–PU can be inserted with the ZXD3000 (V5.0) rectifier in the same
cabinet to form the hybrid power supply system that allows flexible configuration.
l Front-side maintenance
The ZXDT02–PU has integrated the photovoltaic input interface at its front side for
easy front-side cable connection and maintenance.
l Handy operation
à By pressing the button on the front side, the real-time operation information and
alarm information of the solar power module can be queried.
à The module is hot swappable.

1.3 Product Functions

The ZXDT02–PU has the following functions:

1-1

SJ-20140825101256-001|2014-08-20 (R1.0) ZTE Proprietary and Confidential

ZXDT02–PU User Manual

MPPT Function
When the PU works in the MPPT mode, it can detect the generation voltage of the solar
battery panel in real time and track the maximum power point of the panel to improve
charging efficiency.

Interior Protection Functions

l Input overvoltage protection
When the input voltage exceeds the input overvoltage protection point, the PU starts
automatic shut-down protection and the alarm indicator turns ON. When the input
voltage falls to the value of overvoltage restoration, the PU automatically restores
work.
l Input undervoltage protection
When the input voltage is below the input undervoltage protection point, the PU starts
automatic shut-down protection and the alarm indicator turns ON. When the input
voltage rises to the value of undervoltage restoration, the PU automatically restores
work.
l Reverse input polarity protection

When the PU has a problem of reverse input polarity, it stops work. It will not return
to work until the polarity is corrected.
l Output overvoltage protection

When the output voltage exceeds the output overvoltage protection point, the PU
starts automatic shut-down protection and the fault indicator turns ON. The output
overvoltage protection point can be set with the monitoring unit.
l Output overcurrent protection
When the output current rises to 60–70 A, the PU starts automatic shut-down
protection and the fault indicator turns ON. After the fault is cleared, the PU
automatically restores work.
l Output fuse protection
Fuse protection is used at the output end. When an interior fault causes super large
output current, the fuse blows and the fault indicator turns ON.

l Overtemperature protection
When the ambient temperature rises constantly to 65 °C, the PU starts automatic
shut-down protection and the alarm indicator turns ON. After the ambient temperature
falls to a normal value, the PU automatically restores work.

l Back discharge protection

The solar panels are protected from back discharge performed by the battery.

l Fan fault protection

Chapter 1 Overview

When the fan has a problem, the PU starts automatic shut-down protection and the
fault indicator turns ON.

Monitoring and Communications Functions

l Address setting of the PU
The PU address can be set automatically (by default) or manually.
à In the automatic mode, all parallelly-connected PUs already in communications
are coded sequentially and allocated addresses automatically.
à In the manual mode, the PU addresses are set with the monitoring unit. The
address is "1" by default if no address is set.

l Automatic saving of operation parameters

If the communication between a running PU and the monitoring unit is interrupted, the
PU continues to operate with the parameters saved before the interruption.

l Detection of internal analog values

The internal detection circuit of the PU will detect the internal analog values including
input voltage, input current, output voltage, output current, and internal temperature.
l Three remote functions
The PU has three remote functions: telesignalisation, telemetry, and telecontrol.
l Automatic identification of the PU’s serial number
When the PU is inserted into the solar controller, its serial number can be automatically
identified or queried (with the monitoring unit).
l Adjustment of output voltage
The output voltage can be adjusted with the external monitoring device. The
adjustment range is 42–58 VDC and the minimum adjustment step is 0.1 VDC.
l "One–button query"
Press the button on the front panel of the PU for a long time and the operation and fault
information of the PU will be displayed on the monitoring unit. The module address
can be set in the parameter setting menu.

the PU is staying in the "one-button query" status and it is normal to
see the running indicator flash.
3. Check whether the output current is too high due to a load reason. If
a load has a problem, disconnect the power circuit from this load.
4. If the problem persists, refer to the symptom of "The alarm or fault
indicator is On" for troubleshooting.

The PU has no output. The troubleshooting method varies with the indicator status:
l If the power indicator is Off, it means that the PU is not powered
on. Check the photovoltaic input.
l If the power indicator if On and the running indicator is Off,
refer to the symptom of "The alarm or fault indicator is On" for
troubleshooting.

The PU fails to be 1. Check whether the photovoltaic input voltage is below 45 V. If yes,

power-off protection status due to the input undervoltage.
2. Install the PU to another slot and power it on again. If now the PU
can work properly, it means that the PU is normal.
3. If the problem persists, it means that the PU has a problem. Replace
the PU with a new one.
