Information
Clock source configuration: use this procedure to configure the NE Clock source
and designate its priority through the EMS, thus ensuring that all NEs in a network
can establish a proper clock tracking relationship.
(1) When the clock works in tracking mode, its performance depends on the
performances of the synchronous transmission link and the timing extraction circuit.
(2) When the clock works in protection or free-running mode, its performance
depends on the performance of the clock sources that generate various clocks.
Clock sources are located in various NE nodes. Therefore, a high-level clock
should use a clock source with high performance.
For the description of the parameters of clock source configuration, refer to Table
3 -7.
For the description of the parameters of SSM byte mode configuration, refer to Table 3
-8.

4 Verifying Services
Before performing system integration, make sure that verifications of some physical
performances are done, for example, verifications of port status, optical power and
optical path. Therefore, some verification procedures can be performed in advance.
After the device commissioning, specific service performances also need to be verified.
You can select services to be verified according to actual functions of the site, for
example, switching service, voice service and data service.
To ensure that the EMS can successfully monitor the NE, prepare the IP address
planning sheet and VLAN planning sheet before configuring and commissioning the
interfaces.
Step
To ensure the connectivity of device monitoring, run the ping command to check the
interconnection after the configuration is completed.

The meaning of the up and down statuses of each logical sub-interface is the same
with that of the physical interfaces in the single site commissioning. The ZXCTN
devices use a VLAN ranging from 3001 to 4093 as a monitoring VLAN. They use a
VLAN ranging from 17 to 3000 as an encapsulation VLAN. It is recommended that
the encapsulation VLAN range from 101.
Run the show interface gei_x/x command to check whether there is any received
or transmitted packet or CRC.

Check whether there is any traffic in the input and output directions. If there is no
traffic in the input direction, it indicates that there is something wrong with receiving.
Check the receive link. If the optical fiber is used, check the optical power.
If there are many CRC errors, check whether the network cables or optical powers
meet the requirement.
If necessary, run the clear counter gei_4/1 command to clear the statistical data
so as to recalculate the amount of packets received or transmitted via the
interfaces.
Because the ARP tables of the current ZXCTN devices (except CE version) are all of
static configuration, you need to check whether the peer-end MAC address is accurate
and whether the static ARP is not configured correctly.
After the tunnel is configured, it’s better to check the connectivity of the tunnel by the
OAM CC packet. If alarm occurs, retest the configurations of ARP and static MAC.
Once making sure that the tunnel is available, create the PW and service, and then test
the service.
Service test falls into two categories: E1 service test and Ethernet service test.
Information
Step
1. Test method
Construct the network according to the Figure above. The service E1 electrical
interface of NE3 self loops.
Detect the 24-hour bit error of E1 service via the instrument: The tester selects
proper PRBS and sends the test signal form the tested system input interface. In
the case of serial tributary connection, you should unplug and plug the serial cable
before the test and check whether the instrument responds accordingly, so as to
avoid false connectivity.
2. Acceptance criterion
If bit error occurs, check whether the devices on the whole network are
synchronized, and whether the receive clock and transmit clock of E1 are correctly
set.
Information
Test the throughput of Ethernet services. The networking architecture is shown in Figure
4 -42.
Step
1. Test method
Construct the test configuration according to the Figure above or similar networking
architecture.
Configure an EPL service from NE4 to NE1 (with the bandwidth of GE or 10GE).
Connect a data analyzer to NE4 and use a self-loop connector or tail fiber at the
peer end for loopback. Set the analyzer for throughput test and use 7 typical
Ethernet packet sizes: 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 1280, and 1518 bytes (if
necessary, enable the function of supporting Jumbo frame on a port). Test the
throughput and record the result.
Step
1. Test method
The network topology is the same to that in the throughput test. Use 7 typical
Ethernet packet sizes, that is, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 1280 and 1518 bytes for
Ethernet service delay test (if necessary, enable the function of supporting Jumbo
frame on a port). Test the throughput and record the result.
Make sure to set the traffic for test to 90% of the throughput.
Step
1. Test method
The network topology is the same to that in the throughput test and set the traffic
for test to 90% of the throughput. Perform the test for 12 hours to check the service
packet loss ratio
Make sure that tunnels or protection groups at risk are already created successfully
before the protection switching test. Check the ZXCTN protection group information on
the related NEs to make sure that the protection groups are built.
Step
1. Test method
During the protection switching test, you can unplug the fiber or shutdown a NNI
interface laser by EMS, so that the disconnection of a tunnel or PW will be
detected, thus triggering the switching.
2. Acceptance criterion
NE-level protection switching indicates that the system automatically switches services
to a slave board when the power board or master board is at fault, so that the service
receive end has no knowledge of network failure.
Step
1. Test method
To test the protection switching of the master board on 6100 series devices, you
can distribute the reset command via the EMS or the platform or unplug the master
clock board to trigger the switching. To test the protection switching of the power
board, you can unplug the board to trigger the switching.
2. Acceptance criterion
The tested switching time should be less than 50 ms when the system
automatically switches the master board to the slave board. After the switching, the
service performance should meet the requirements mentioned above.
Wear the anti-static wrist strap when performing operations on the device (such as
store, install, and unpack) or plugging the board.
Take care not to touch any component on the board, the laid wire or connector
pinout when plugging the board.
Keep the accessories into the anti-static bags when they are not used.
Keep the accessories away from the material such as food wrap paper, plastic and
polystyrene foam which are likely to generate static electricity.
1. Grounding requirements
The board is connected to the shell of the device via a panel, and there is no
electrical connection inside the board.
The cabinet must be connected to the grounding copper bar of the equipment
room via protection ground cables, thus keeping good electrical performances.
The sub-rack is firmly connected to the rear columns in the cabinet, thus
realizing grounding.
Do not influence other online service devices during the process of system
integration.
