PROBLEM STATEMENT:
All over India, currently at every shop or mall while purchasing any product, customer have
to go to billing counter and their employee of that particular shop or mall scan the RFID tag
or barcode and then generate bill.
ABSTRACT:
• People tend to overshoot their budget when they are shopping at a big
shopping center. Moreover, they end up in long queues at the end of their
• It helps the customer in ensuring that he does not overshoot his pre
decided budget and only buy the essential commodities actually needed
by him, also the system helps in eliminating the long queues at the billing
counter as the products are already scanned and the customer just has to
significantly.

INTRODUCTION;
Technology has been an enlightening path for innovative new ideas and connecting the world
in which Modern world has brought us many possible ways of connecting people with
technology such as IoT and industrial automation. One of the most important modern world
leisure activities is spending time shopping in malls, shopping complexes etc. Thus, an
upbringing innovation in the field of shopping and retail stores can be the inclusion of smart
shopping trolley systems in which the person has to just register with the help of his/her
phone number and enjoy shopping with personalised billing system which helps the customer
to view his total amount anytime while shopping which helps to maintain the budget, as well
as automatic billing, helps in did you see the hardships required for waiting and standing in
long queues in the shopping malls. Our project consists of RFID tags which can be attached
to the required products, an RFID reader which is used for scanning the products after putting
them in the trolley while dropping them in the trolly the product will be scanned by EM-18,
an LCD which will be used to show the items added in the trolley along with the total
amount. The aim is to design a microcontroller-based shopping cart aiding the customers in
their shopping and reducing the queue at the billing counter. The system must also have a
feature to delete a purchased product in case the customer changes his/her mind. There is also
a need of a centralized database which contains the cost of all the products in the shopping
substantially.

RFID Reader: -
A radio frequency identification reader (RFID reader) is a device used to gather information
from an RFID tag, which is used to track individual objects. Radio waves are used to transfer
data from the tag to a reader.
Push buttons/Switch: -
Pushbutton switch is exactly what the name implies: an electrical switch actuated by a
person’s hand motion. These may take the form of toggle, pushbutton, rotary, pull-chain, etc.
Reset button: -
Microcontroller: -
independently switched 10mm jumbo LEDs this unit can clearly display red or green
indications. With a low current input to switch each LED independently

DISADVANTAGES
Smart shopping carts will increase the maintenance cost of the store.
Smart shopping carts cost more.
Can Easily damaged if not handled carefully.
Conclusion
This product has been designed and completed. Both the programming and the hardware
design have been completed successfully and we have been successful in making all the
functions work. The cart housing, all the components has been designed and the components
are fixed into it. There is also a scope of improvement, a feature where a customer can feed in
the shopping list which will enable the customer not to miss out on any item. In the current
market, this shopping cart stands apart from the existing designs due to a variety of features.
One reason is that it stands apart from the conventional method of bar code scanning where
an item has to be in the line of sight whereas using RFID reader it just has to be in the
vicinity and it would be detected. The cart will enable the customer to scan the items and get
the total bill instantly. This would reduce the checkout time of a customer from the billing
counter. An added advantage for the shop owner is that there is reduced amount of man
power required at the billing counter. Hence, the Smart Shopping Cart stands apart from
existing designs
