(Reuters Health) – Half of all heart patients made at least one medication-related
mistake after leaving the hospital, and guidance from a pharmacist didn’t seem to
reduce those errors, in a new study.
Consequences of mistakes – such as forgetting to take certain drugs or taking the
wrong dose – can range from side effects like constipation to more serious drops
in blood pressure. Two percent of errors were life-threatening.
Hospitals involved in the study were already taking steps to prevent medication
mistakes in addition to the extra pharmacist intervention, said Dr. Sunil Kripalani,
the study’s lead author from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in
Nashville, Tennessee.
“We were surprised to see that in spite of these efforts that 50 percent (of patients)
were still having these medication errors,” he told Reuters Health.
Although the pharmacist visits didn’t help the average patient, he added, certain
ones seemed to benefit – such as patients who were on multiple drugs or had
trouble understanding health information.
As for traditionally lower-risk patients, he said other strategies to prevent errors
may be needed.

Here is my unforgettable experience. One day I joined a story telling contest. Two
of my friends and I had been chosen to take a part in the final round at the district
level. I was very happy and eager to win the competition.

guided and taught me pronunciation, facial expression and gestures. One day,
before performing, my friends and I were busy to prepare the props and costumes
for the competition. Thing that made me sad was my teacher rented the props and
costumes for my friends but not for me.

My two friends had beautiful costumes and luxurious props. Although I just wore
the simple ones, I performed my best to win the competition. The competition
started. I got number 29 and my friends got number 5 and 10. I was nervous but I
showed my best performance on stage. Lots of people took photos and videos of
me.

Finally, anxiety was gone after I had finished performing. And then, the
announcement came which made three of us very uneasy. Luckily I was chosen as

Dear Editor
We are writing to complain about ads on TV. There are so many ads, especially
during our favourite programmes. We think they should be stopped for a number
of reasons.
First, ads are nuisance. They go on for a long time and there are so many.
Sometimes there seems to be more ads than programmes.
Second, ads are bad influence on people. They try to encourage people to buy
unhealthy food like beer, soft drink, candy and chips. And they make people want
things they do not really need and can not.
Finally, the people who make ads have too much say in what programmes people
watch. That is because they want to put all their ads on popular programs that a lot
of people watch. Some programmes which are not so popular get stopped because
they do not attract enough ads, even though those programmes may be someone’s
favourite.
For those reasons, we think TV station should stop showing ads. They interrupt
programmes. They are bad influences on people, and they are sometimes put a
stop to people’s favourite shows. We are sick of ads, and now we mostly watch
other channels.

Boarding School Education

There are many arguments in favor of a boarding school education. Nevertheless,
the boarding school is not always the best education institution for everyone.
At an early age interacting and communicating with people is very important for a
child’s personal life and can be especially helpful for his/her future. In a boarding
school, shy children can take advantage of interaction through communal
activities. The boarding school also offers a great variety of activities such as arts,
sports, and music that allow children to demonstrate and develop specialized skills
in their free time.
Furthermore, the structured way of life and strict rules at the boarding school may
helps students to get used to a well ordered way of life. The manners and social
skills will help them to become more responsible and confident, and to develop
their talents in leadership. Professionally trained teachers and educators in the
boarding school can offer excellent education without the parents’ constant
supervision.

In spite of these good points, it is not advisable to send a child to a boarding

school if he/she is a dependent learner. A boarding school usually demands that
student learn independently. In addition, the boarding school should not be seen as
a measure to solve inappropriate behavior or unsatisfactory study performance.
Instead of improving, problematic children may close off their relationship with
their peers and teachers.
In conclusion although a boarding school may provide good education to many
children, it is not recommended for those who are strongly attached to their
families. They may become frustrated and socially isolated.
