SCHOOL FEES – 2024

At the budget meeting held on 6 November 2023, parents accepted both the school and hostel budget. Following this,
school fees for 2024 are as follows:

School fee payments can be made into the Secondary School’s Nedbank account. Payment options include: a once-off
annual payment, quarterly payments during the first 3 terms, or monthly debit order payments for 10 months. Debit
orders are to be registered at the school’s finance office no later than 4 December 2023 to ensure your debit order for
January 2024 is registered on time. Debit order forms can be collected at the finance office. Should you wish to make
use of Samba payments, these can also be registered at the finance office. Cash payments at the financial office are
prohibited, only card payments are available. Cash payments must please be deposited at the bank directly.

DISCOUNT:

Should your school fee account be paid in full by 31 March 2024, a fixed discount of R1 800.00 is allowed.

PAYMENT TERMS:

In terms of the South African Schools Act, Article 38 – 41 (1996), you as parents are jointly and separately liable for
paying school fees. The school is authorized to enforce school fees by means of a legal process. Should exceptional
financial troubles arise, parents need to make arrangements with the finance office in writing. Financial arrangements
may be reviewed and reconsidered at any time as the parents’ financial circumstances change.

School fees are strictly payable in advance unless you confirm that payments will be made over 10 months, or
on a quarterly basis over 3 terms. Each monthly payment needs to reflect on the school’s bank account on or
before the 7th of each month from January to October 2024. Quarterly payments are payable on the 1st school
day of each of the first 3 terms.

According to the Schools Act, parents who are unable to afford school fees are entitled to apply for partial exemption.
These application forms can be collected from the school’s finance office. Application forms may be collected by parents
only and not by learners. All applications must be submitted at the finance office on or before 28 February 2024.

School fee statements are emailed monthly, and it remains the responsibility of you as parents to ensure that you receive
the statements. Should you fail to receive statements, this needs to be communicated with the finance office as soon
as possible.

School fees must be always paid according to the payment dates and conditions. Should school fees not be paid
according to the agreed date and conditions, the entire outstanding school fee account will be payable immediately.

Grey College is a cash free zone and do not accept any cash payment at the school. All payments other than school
and hostel fees must please be done via the Karri app. Parents must please ensure the proses are followed to be

We realize that making small payments for collections can be time-consuming and frustrating for you.
Having to find the exact change needed or go through lengthy steps for online payments is
inconvenient. It is even more inconvenient to manage event dates within your busy schedule.

We believe we have found the solution.

The benefits of this app are applicable to both you as a member and us as an organization. Dealing
with cash is a safety and security concern and a burden for our staff members. It is also difficult to
keep track of lots of EFTs with different references. More importantly, the app we are introducing will
benefit you in that you will be able to pay for small transactions straight to your service provider at the
click of a button.

It is FREE to download from either the Apple Store or Google Play Store and it uses less data than
Whatsapp.

The application is called Karri (a Zulu word for small change). Karri is an innovative mobile payment
application that allows you to make quick payments for community collections using your smartphone.
Karri is powered by Nedbank but will work with any bank ensuring the safety and security of all
information loaded onto the app. It is therefore fully POPI and PCI DSS compliant with stringent internal
measures. We have furthermore entered into a contractual agreement with Karri to guarantee this.

You only need an email address to access the app. Please expect an email/SMS directly from Karri
asking you to download the app and then sign up with your email address. Existing members from
other Karri organizations can just log in.
