This operation also includes required tools and times for applicable parts of the following operations:

NOTE!
The following indicate a defective accumulator:

brake charging is activated often

warning for low brake pressure indicated, without obvious reason
P-brake is applied while operating
pressures do not drop the same amount on the front and rear circuit when pressing down the brake pedal (can be seen
in service mode)
P-brake is applied when load and dump is activated (may indicate that several accumulators are defective)

Preparation

1. Place the machine in service position, see Service positions.

2. Raise the load body and secure with 88830046 Dump body support.

3. Proceed as follows to determine which accumulator has failed.

The machine should be cold.

Check the temperature of the different accumulators.
Start the engine.
Pump with the brake for 4–5 minutes.
The oil-filled and failed accumulator remains cold. The gas-filled and intact accumulators become warm.

4. Turn off the engine.

WARNING
If the pressure is not released before opening the system, oil under high pressure will jet out, resulting in serious
personal injuries.

5. Release the pressure in the brake system by pressing down the brake repeatedly (approx. 30 – 40 times) until the flow
through the footbrake valve has stopped. (The hissing sound has stopped and the pedal feels "spongy".)

6. In order to ensure that the system is pressureless, open the accumulator bank's breather nipple on the circuit where the
accumulator is to be changed, follow the method below.

Rear brake system

7. Connect a hose of suitable size to the breather nipple on the accumulator bank which is located on the load unit's left
side, drain the hose into a suitable container. Open the breather nipple carefully to check that the system is fully
depressurized. Close the breather nipple.

8. Connect a hose of suitable size to the breather nipple on the accumulator bank which is located behind the cab, drain
the hose into a suitable container. Open the breather nipple carefully to check that the system is fully depressurized.
Close the breather nipple.

Removing

9. Remove the accumulator and discard it in a suitable manner, see Accumulator, discarding.
NOTE!
Take care of the oil in an environmentally safe way.

Installing
10. Check that the new accumulator has an O-ring installed.

11. Install accumulator.

Tightening torque: 80 Nm (59 lbf ft)

12. Start the engine without pressing on the brake pedal. Check for any leaks. Then check that there is full brake pressure.

13. Once again, bleed the brake system on the accumulator bank's breather nipple. Connect a hose of suitable size to the
breather nipple on the accumulator bank, drain the hose in a suitable container. Open the breather nipple carefully until
a steady flow is obtained, close when oil free from air runs out of the hose.
NOTE!
Take care of the oil in an environmentally safe way.
