2. How can TQM help each department of an organization?

Give at least five departments in an


organization and explain how TQM changes the overall functions of each department.
TQM is regarded as a customer-focused procedure with a continuous improvement goal in
company operations management. TQM makes sure that each component of the company is built
to satisfy clients to the maximum degree possible. It makes an effort to guarantee that all related
workers are working toward the same objectives of raising the caliber of the goods or services
and enhancing the production processes. Long-term success depends on improved client
connections, higher loyalty, and increased repeat business, all of which are brought about by this.
Finance Department; The continuous elimination of process mistakes and the simplification
of activities are referred to as total quality management (TQM). As a result, the system
generates outcomes with low error rates and has few non-value-added components. The
customer's perspective is used to evaluate these outcomes. Increased profitability are a
regular result of a TQM system because a company spends less time and money fixing
mistakes.
Information Technology (IT); IT might be vital to operate with a process orientation and to
gather information on the demands and preferences of the clients in order to meet them.
According to IT literature, clients can determine how well a company's system works by
rating how much of the desired system services are provided. Customers could decide not to
take services from a company, for example, if the systems utilized to provide the services
are out-of-date or cannot meet the expectations of the customers. It is projected that quality
management will use IT will enhance the quality management system's operating duties and
so improve output quality. Technology in the service sector remarked that the service
sectors are making significant investments in technologies, particularly IT, to boost output,
but with reportedly extremely limited services.
Manufacturing Department; Total Quality Management (TQM) can significantly help a
manufacturing department in changing its overall functions by focusing on improving the
implementation and operation of the production system that will lead in producing an
enhanced product, increased efficiency and reduced production costs. It will also help the
department in achieving the persistent procedure of discovering and extinguishing errors
that is possible to happen in manufacturing. TQM’s goal to improve the quality of an
organization’s outputs is also beneficial in the manufacturing department as they also aim to
provide well-made products that will satisfy the organization’s consumer.
Marketing Department; Marketing Department being defined as the face of the organization,
is liable in arranging and creating the materials that serve as the company's representation.
Reaching out and connecting with potential clients, consumers, investors, as well as the
community while developing a unified brand image that favorably portrays the organization
is also the said department’s responsibility. Implementing TQM will surely help the
department in achieving its goal as it emphasizes the importance of comprehending the
requirements and expectations of customers. The department can also satisfy consumer
requests and boost customer satisfaction and loyalty by coordinating marketing processes
with these specifications which is one of TQM’s focus.

Human Resource Department; Compensation and benefits, recruitment, administration,


training and development, employee interactions, and performance monitoring are among
the Human Resource department’s main responsibilities. TQM assists the said department in
encouraging each employee to participate actively. Employee engagement and motivation
increase when workers participate in problem-solving and decision-making processes, which
also improves manufacturing processes. Having this will also help the department in
achieving staff development and training to improve their abilities and expertise. A staff
with adequate training is better equipped to drive industrial process innovations.
