Lesson Directions
• Teach students the rhyme. It’s easy to pick up if you repeat if
a few time.
• Have students keep the steady beat with body percussion. You
can have a few students point to the beat on the board (slide
7). You could also print out a beat sheet (slide 14 and 15) and
have each student point to the mice as they keep the beat.
• Movements!! Slide 11 outlines the movements.
• Ask students why they think the mouse ran up the clock. (this
always gets interesting responses) (slide 12)
• Instruments! Have students keep the beat with percussion
instruments. You could even have student improvise a melody
with the beat on an Orff instrument (on a pentatonic scale)
• Coloring! Slide 16 can be printed out and colored.
