Introduction

On December 14, 2023, as part of our lesson on observation, we went on an

educational field trip to kurd Genius Private High School in Sulaymaniyah,
Iraq, accompanied by our teachers and classmates. The school greeted us
warmly and impressed us with its pleasant surroundings. .The school offers
interesting and positive aspects, including a scenic view. The walls of the
school's rooms are adorned with motivational quotes, some of which are
contributed by the students. In each class there were approximately 35
students and we were assigned to observe the third grade.

The Positive Qualities and Insightful Content in the Writing Lesson

The observed English class demonstrated several positive aspects. The

teacher effectively used hand gestures for attention, moved around the class
to observe student actions, and employed various markers to explain and
emphasize key points. All students were given the opportunity to participate,
with the teacher inviting them to the front to explain their answers. The
classroom was equipped with the latest technology and provided an optimal
learning environment. Varied tones were used to capture student attention,
and the teacher maintained a wise and close relationship with students,
memorizing their names and addressing them personally. Recognition for
participating students included applause from peers. The teacher addressed
previous quiz mistakes, emphasizing the need for increased focus. Students
were given time for queries and provided with extra information on the
subject. Proactive measures were taken to address student attentiveness,
including changing the seats of those showing signs of sleepiness and
engaging the class in physical activities. Students were permitted to drink
water, and the teacher discouraged making fun of mistakes, implementing
consequences for such behavior. Additionally, students were encouraged not
to raise their hands when their peers were responding. The class concluded
with the teacher prompting students to provide examples related to the
studied subject.
Less Effective Aspects of the Teacher’s Instructional Approach and
students behavior

when we stepped into the classroom, the students were in the middle of a
writing lesson, and the teacher was explaining common mistakes that non-
English speakers make during writing sentences, such as ignoring
punctuation or not capitalizing the first letter of a sentence. During a
question-and-answer session, the teacher became a bit too upset with a
student who didn't know the answer to one of her questions. Although the
student tried and provided multiple answers, the teacher brought the student
to the whiteboard and attempted to explain further. However, the student
didn't seem to be able to comprehend the information. The teacher was upset
that the student didn't know the answer, and she raised her voice a little bit.
The student felt embarrassed in front of her classmates. After the student sat
down, the teacher reminded them not to make the same mistakes they had
made in previous exams. She encouraged them and told they should be
more careful while answering questions during the exams and pointed out
that while many performed poorly on exam papers their performance in
daily activities is much better.
Afterward, the teacher continued explaining the subject when a student
asked a question. The teacher seemed very surprised and told the student that
she should already know the answer because it has a very obvious answer.
However, the student didn't know the answer. Once again, the teacher
appeared quite agitated when the student asked the question. While the
teacher was explaining the subject, a student wasn't paying attention and got
distracted by coloring her notebook. The teacher noticed and brought her to
the whiteboard, asking her to explain to the students what the teacher had
been explaining. After that, she advised the student not to be distracted, and
told her to be more vigilant during the lesson. They are on the teacher ask
them to fill in the blanks in an exercise within their books and two students
were telling the answers to each other and the teacher took away their
notebooks and didn’t say anything without telling them that they should not
do that or they should do it by themselves. She just took away their
notebooks and continued what she was already doing.
These Suggestions Aim to Correct Those Mistakes and Prevent their
Recurrence and our Group Suggestion, If We were in the Place of that
Teacher

Decorating classrooms is important for keeping students interested. Well-

chosen decorations enhance the rooms appearance and contribute to
fostering a joyful learning environment .But too many decorations can be
distracting for the students . The teacher must ensure that the learning
environment strikes the perfect balance between being dull, or overly
distracting.

If 9-year-olds find a subject hard the teacher must be be patient and try
different ways to teach. Use pictures and activities, and explain things
simply. Give praise and help to students who are having a tough time. Make
sure the class feels supportive, so students feel okay asking questions
without worrying about being judged. The teacher's excitement and support
are really important for making a comfortable learning space..

If a teacher makes a mistake and kids laugh, they can say, "Oops, even
teachers mess up!" to keep things positive. But it's Important not to laugh
about grades. Talk about learning from mistakes and getting better,
reminding everyone that even teachers are always learning. This way, the
class becomes a friendly place where everyone is improving, and the focus
Is on growing and trying hard, not stressing about grades

If a student Isn't paying attention, the teacher shouldn't embarrass them in

front of everyone. Instead, offer extra help privately to keep their
confidence. By answering questions and creating a positive class vibe,
learning can be effective without making someone feel uncomfortable,
especially for a 9-year-old.

If a student doesn't get something and others laugh, the teacher should help
her privately with extra explanations. Fixing mistakes quietly supports the
student. The teacher should also talk to the class about being kind and not
laughing. Being understanding creates a positive space where mistakes are
okay. Doing activities together helps everyone feel like a team.
