NARRATIVE REPORT

Day 1

Our group was assigned observed in laboratory national high school. We decided to conduct
our observation under science class and we approach Ma'am Charlene Ballesteros for she is a
science teacher. We agreed together that we will observe her class at grade 7 during her 9:00-
10:00 this morning. Firstly before starting the class the students were given time to be
prepared and fix themselves to be able to actively participate in the class. As soon as the
teacher arrives in the classroom they were ready and they all stood up and greeted their
teacher and us their observers. As long as the teacher arrives the teacher first observed if their
environment is clean and their sitting arrangement is organized. After observing the
environment next thing the teacher should do is to check the students if they are all present.
After checking the students the teacher starts to recall what was the topic that have been
discussed last meeting by asking the class. It is a better way to check if your students has
gained knowledge or has really understood the topic that you have been discussed last
meeting. I observed that the teacher has the consistency of the quality of her voice. After
recalling the topics that has been discussed last meeting. The next thing the teacher does is to
give motivation to the students in order to engage actively into your class. In giving
motivation to your students i observed that you must have different ways on how to get their
attention such as having bunot bunot to the class that has a question and answer portion. She
has methods on making her discussion easier for students Ms. Ballesteros students were very
responsive because they fully understand the concept that the teacher wants to relay to the
students.
Day 2

In this class the teacher that i will be going to observe is Ma'am Maritez Ruiz. The lesson
started again with the greetings of the teacher and the students. First thing in the lesson
proper the teacher recall what was the lesson again last meeting and by recalling she let her
students recite and tell what was the topic they had been discussed. After recalling what was
the topic last meeting the teacher then gives the motivation on the preparation for her lesson
that she will be going to discuss. I observed that most of the class has a technology to use for
the lesson and i have observed that the teacher gave the lesson that they will be discussing
beforehand. since we are now at the 21st century where technology is rising and upgrading.
So it is a good tool for the students to grasp knowledge in advance. In this class i had
observed that most of the students is not listening on the teacher what he is discussing and
that makes me think that when you discuss in front of the class make sure that all of your
students are listening. It is really important to have the good quality of the voice in order for
the student to not be bored. I had observed that the teacher is varying the inflection and the
volume of her voice to keep the students engage in the class. In this class I had seen that
students are not really that has a good attitude towards their teacher and that they think their
teacher as their peers. I've come to think that as a teacher you must have the appearance they
see as their teacher and that they'll see you as a respected person and not just a friend whom
they will be noisy and do other businesses in the class while you are discussing

Day 3

In our observation today it is an afternoon so i expect that when it is afternoon the students
will be likely sleepy or doesn't have that much of energy. Since on our observation today,
will be going to observe ma'am Charlene Ballesteros. The teacher has a good quality of the
voice and I really admire her from the start because of her mastery of the lessons that she is
teaching. It is very important and very advantageous for a teacher to have the mastery of the
lesson that she is teaching it is because in order for the acquisition of the lessons to be
continuos. I have observed that when the teacher plan to give an assessment to her students
inform them beforehand or in advance in order for them to have the motivation to listen to
your discussion. When the teacher discussed the lesson she first relay the meanings of the
certain concepts of the topic. After giving the definition of the concepts i observed that the
teacher is asking if the students understood what the teacher has stated. I have seen that when
you give your students a chance to recite in the class and when the students are incorrect to
his or her answer, correct him/her in a way that he/she will not be embarrassed.
Day 4

Today will be going to observe the grade 7 class and the teacher that we will be reserving is
Ma'am Charlene Ballesteros. First thing in the morning as always the students great the
teacher as soon as she arrives in the classroom and after the greetings the teacher then asked
if there were absent that day. After checking the students if they are all present the teacher
then inform the students about the things that she wants to do with the class. In discussing the
lesson have another method of teaching like question and answer and not just telling the
descriptions of the lessons. As well as you can have your teaching tools such as visual aids in
order for the students to have the much greater visual on what is the topic all about. I have
observed that since the first day that I am observing the teacher, her good quality of voice is
still the same as day 1 and that's a good skill a teacher must have. Giving an assessment to
your students make sure that your instruction is clearly stated to them and if not care to repeat
instruction if your students doesn't understand it. Today in the class some students don't
behave well. And if your students are not behaving well you must correct them in still a good
manner without making them feel bad to their other classmate.

Day 5

This day we will be going to observe the grade 10 class first thing in the morning at 8:00 to
9:00. Since the teacher has told us that they have a performance task our part is to observe the
students doing their certain tasks. As I have observed students doing their performance task
which is to have the music video since it is a group activity have seen some of the groups are
uniting with each other and that they have a good communication while the other groups are
not in good terms. Since we are observing them doing their performance which is the music
video we have given them at least some tips in doing their activity. We watch them do their
performance task and at first, the students felt shy because of our presence but when we talk
to them casually and we said that we can help them they eventually do their thing

Day 6

Today the teacher asks the students to bring out their assignments that were given to them
during their last meeting. As the students brought out their assignments, the teacher said that
they would be checking them, so the teacher picked an index card with the name of the
student written on it. As the teacher picked the student, he or she would be going to present
his or her answer to the class, using the white board to illustrate it and explain his or her
answer. After that, the teacher would tell if the answer was correct or wrong, and then the
teacher would also explain how the students got the answer. After checking the assignment,
they continue discussing, and while discussing, the teacher gives a graded recitation by
picking a name again, and if the student gets the correct answer, the teacher will give him or
her a chip with corresponding poits. Before the teacher left, the teacher informed them in
advance that they would be having an assessment or quiz for the next meeting.
Day 7

The teacher we have for today's observation of the grade 7 class is Ma'am Charlene
Ballesteros. As usual, the students greet the teacher as soon as she enters the room in the
morning. The teacher then inquired as to whether any students would be absent that day. The
teacher first makes sure that all of the students are present before telling them what she plans
to do in class. The students were preoccupied with their individual tasks as the teacher
entered the room. The teacher still gave them a friendly greeting. The students then returned
her greeting. If they were absent, the teacher inquired. There are no absent students. The
teacher encouraged them to maintain this attitude through the remainder of the academic
year. Therefore, after verifying attendance, the teacher determines whether the students recall
the previous lesson. Instead of just retelling the lesson's description, discuss it using a
different teaching strategy, such as question and answer sessions. Additionally, you can use
visual aids as teaching tools to help the students learn. On the lesson, the students will choose
one of the strips of papers the teacher has provided and indicate whether it is an illustration of
kinetic energy or potential energy. The instructor called on the class to respond. Some people
correctly answered it, while others incorrectly did. But when they gave incorrect answers, the
teacher didn't make them feel bad about it; instead, she gave constructive criticism.

Day 8

Our observation today was and grade 9 and the teacher that we will going to observe is
Ma'am Charlene Ballesteros. The topic in this class is chemistry and we know that chemistry
is bit of a hard topic. When i observe the teacher discussing in front i am amazed to see . She
has the mastery on the lesson that she is discussing. The teacher can be able to discuss the
topic without even looking at the workbook or the teachers preferences about the chemistry. I
have also observed that the students are engage in to the class because of how the teacher use
techniques that the students may be able to learn about the topic. Their topic on chemistry is
about naming compounds and as i observed about how the teacher carefully discussing the
lesson.
Day 9

The next teaching observation will be on Grade 8. The teacher that I will be observing
is Ms. Marites Ruiz. To start with, the first thing that I observe is she gave 5 minutes to
students to take their break first before entering the class. Then, the classroom was not
organized well. Maybe because of their environment. The classroom was hot as hell if there
is no electric fan. The heat from the sun is entering the room that is why the classroom
arrangement was not organized. They need to adjust in order for them to have their classes
inside the classroom. Upon entering their room, I don't know if this is the ideal classroom I
want in the future if I teach.
As the teacher entered the room the students are busy with their own businesses. Still,
the teacher greeted them with a smile in her face. Then the students greeted her back. The
teacher asked if there are absent. All of the student are present. The teacher commended them
to continue this kind of attitude until the end of the school year. So after checking the
attendance the teacher check if the students remember they past lesson. The students eagerly
raised their hands and answered it correctly without any doubt. Then after recalling the past
lesson it is t is now time for the motivation part. The teacher has a strips of papers then the
students will pick one strip and tell if it is an example of kinetic energy or potential energy.
The teacher called students to answer. Some answered it correctly and some answered it
wrong. But the teacher didn't let the students feel bad when they answered wrong instead she
corrected them in a good way. After the motivation. The teacher presented the new topic
which is the Kinetic and Potential energy. She is also sending modules in their group chats so
that students will have an advanced reading about their topic. It will also serve as their
medium in the learning process because in their room they have no white boards to be use in
the teaching and learning process. It is indeed big challenge to some teachers on how to
deliver the lesson well because they lack of classroom materials to be use. While the teacher
is delivering the lesson I observed that some of the students are not paying attention maybe
because of the classroom environment. Some students also have their own business in their
seats. They are talking with their seat mates and asking unnecessary things. They are eating,
browsing in their phones and others. Only few of them are really interested in listening. The
teacher is doing her best to deliver the information well. Maybe the problem is on the
students. They are not giving their best to learn.
As an observer, I think the classroom environment really matters in the teaching-learning
process. If they have a good classroom and complete materials to be use maybe the students
will be motivated to learn. Having a neat and nice classroom is a plus factor in delivering the
lesson. If you are the student are you comfortable to learn in a hot classroom and doesn't have
complete materials in teaching? In this observation, I will end it here and see if there are
progressed in this class for the following days
Day 10

On our observation, The teacher gave students 5 minutes to take a break before returning to
class, which was the first thing I noticed. The classroom was also poorly organized. Perhaps
as a result of their surroundings. If there wasn't an electric fan, the classroom was unbearably
hot. The classroom setup was disorganized because of the heat from the sun entering the
space. They must make the necessary adjustments in order to hold their classes inside the
classroom. I'm not sure if this is the kind of classroom I want if I ever decide to become a
teacher after entering their space. The flow of discussion was indeed fruitful. All I can say is
the teacher is doing her job well. She is passionate about her work. When she is discussing,
her voice is very consistent. When the students cannot understand it well she is giving more
examples. She is also using some diagrams in order for students to familiarize them well.

Day 11

In our observation this day, there were lot of unnecessary happened. We had an observation
today on Grade 7 and the teacher that we supposed to observe is not around. The students will
be having their quiz and on that Ma’am Cha talk to us that we will be facilitating the class. As
we suppose to enter the class, one of the students is having some issues regarding on her
classmates. Since we are the one who are facilitating the class one of my classmates take in
charge of the situation. The examination is still ongoing while one of the students are talking
to my classmates. We’ve noticed that there were divisions in the class that is why they are
having some tensions. We are not the one who will be going to decide for them because we
are not the teacher that is handling so we just gave an encouragement to the student and since
they are having an examination, we encourage the student to take the exam, surprisingly the
student is genius that in spite of her late taking the exam she passed it on time.

Day 12

We are conducting an observation on Ma’am Charlene Ballesteros' class today. We chose to

keep an eye on the students in Ma'am Charlene's absence because she has another schedule.
I've noticed that students tend to be noisier when the teacher is not present, and that given
that it is 21st century, most students are using technology or their phones to play games or
browse social media. Since the teacher is not present, she has given the students assessments
so that they will still have work to complete for the class even without her.
Day 13

This day we have an observation at the class of ma'am Charlene Ballesteros. Since Ma'am
Charlene has another schedule to go to, we decided to watch the students in her absence.
When the teacher is not around I observed that the students are more likely to be noisy and
that since it is 21st century most of the students are on their phones or technologies some are
playing games and some browsing their social medias. Since the teacher is not around she left
an assessments to the student so that even when she is not around they still have something to
do to the class. As a observer, I believe that the teaching-learning process is greatly impacted
by the classroom environment. Perhaps the students will be motivated to learn if the
classroom is conducive to learning and the supplies are complete. A positive aspect of
teaching is having a tidy and attractive classroom.

Day 14

At the class of Ma’am Charlene and since she is not around, we then again watched
the students do their own tasks. I observe that when left without the guidance of a teacher,
they would become reluctant to do anything related to actual learning or education, they just
want to chat, and play video games. The students had still something to do and the learning
and they can do it on their own, but they can do it better with a teacher who connects with
them as learners.

Day 15

This day we have an observation at the class of ma'am Charlene Ballesteros again. Since
Ma'am Charlene has still another schedule to go to, we decided again to watch the students in
her absence.

Today, teacher Cha was not around. She lets us to watch over her class for this day. Even
though she is not around, she still gave a seatwork that students should answer. This day, I
observed that even though their subject teacher was not around they are still behaved in doing
their quiz or seatwork. They refrain from asking from their seatmates instead they asks
question to us their observer. And after they finish their work they let their classmates to
finish it also. All I can say is that the Grade 9 students are very discipline enough.

This day was not that productive because I wasn’t able to witness another teaching and
learning process but I was so happy.
Day 16

Today was the last day of our observation. The teacher that we will be going to observe is
Ma’am Ruiz. It is a great timing as the class had a performance task to do. Ma’am Ruiz told
the students last meeting to bring the materials that they will be using in their performance
task. The students then bring out their materials. Once the students are now ready to have the
performance Ma’am Ruiz ask the class on what to do with their grouping and the class then
decided to group them with their group in Daily Cleaners so they did not struggle. After that,
the teacher then gives the instruction but when she observed that none of her students are
listening, she then stopped giving instruction and let the room first be kept on silence(if the
students are noisy while the teacher is giving an instruction, the students will never
understand the instructions given).
