GRADE LEVEL(S) Teaching Grade 2B

Student teacher: Naw Ei Thandar Phyo School: EIS (Ekkamai International school)

Mentor teacher(s): Teacher Alpha University Supervisor: Mr. Naltan

Instructions: A common student-teaching concern is that the student is often not fully informed
of his/her strengths and weakness during the student-teaching experience. It is suggested that the
student teacher ask these questions of the mentor teacher and/or the supervisor in a conference
session. Specific instances and observations will assist in making this evaluation more helpful.

1. What strong points characterize my teaching?

My strong points are my teaching empower students to achieve their full potential by
providing opportunities, support, feedback, and guidance to achieve the learning
outcome. I let the students do vary activities ahead before teaching. I make sure all the
students understand the lesson and they can independently do their worksheet. The
initiation of the class, I usually start the class by asking students question that active their
prior knowledge and related to or recall real life experience. I put myself confidently
while I am teaching. I communicate well with students both oral and gesture
communication. I tried my best to apply my homeroom teacher teaching styles as she
suggested that would strike students achievement in learning as well as improve
misbehave in the class.
2. Have I been making the best possible use of school materials, the available facilities, and
professional opportunities? Illustrate.
Yes, I am not sure but in my class my homeroom teacher let me use or borrow any
materials that needed for the class activities and classwork. Teacher let me borrow text
book for self-study before I teach. My classroom has most the materials that are needed
such as scissors, color pencil, paper, color paper even printer etc. Those provided
materials I only use for class and maintain them in good condition every time I got to use
it. I didn’t touch anything school materials or available facilities for my own use.
3. Have I shown evidence of ability to learn from experience?
Yes, surely I do. From my experience from those days of observations I learnt that the
teaching style and classroom management from my homeroom teacher that I could apply
in my future career as I am going to teach. Especially, I learnt how to keep students to
keep in track and follow the direction and instruction. Because I learnt that by the time
students, they diverse their attention to other things, I cannot ask one by one or shouting
to them, they don’t even hear that. So, I say softly or whisper to those students who still
pay attention “clap your hand one time, two time, three time, one time” until all the
students they realize teacher need their attention and they become quiet. I keep saying
them clapping, until no one make any sound and all eyes on me and follow my direction.

4. Do I appear to relate well with and be accepted by students?

Yes, I probably do. But sometime they like to urge base on their understanding. So I tried
to explain to understand and accept the issue we are arguing by given them valid example
or showing evidence.
5. Is discipline too strong, too weak, or about right? How could I improve in this area?
I think the disciplines are just about right. I don’t go too strict. I keep flexible when
things are not necessary to be serious. However, I still need to improve in using the voice.
My voice sometimes it is not loud enough so it does not able to fully discipline the
students because they don’t find it serious.
6. What specific improvements or suggestions, if any, need to be made concerning my
mannerisms, speech traits, idiosyncrasies of personality, or appearance?
I still need to improve in classroom management skills, planning skills, speech traits and
the use of voice.
7. What additional things do I need to learn or do to become a better teacher?
Need to improve in academic preparation, problem- solving ability when face with
student’s parent because I learnt that the parents will call anytime when they don’t
understand things or when they see low in grade from one quarter to another. As well as,
adaptably with new circumstance and co-teacher. I need to be more socialize.
