Hello!

The easiest way to start the class would be to have them watch a past production of the patriotic play
4th Grade Program - America: A Star Spangled Production
This would be about 20 minutes of watch time; you can omit the remarks at the end.
After that you can continue with watching
Schoolhouse Rock! "The Preamble" to the Constitution, music by Lynn Ahrens

For the last 20 minutes you can do any of the following


1. Go over the words of the “Star Spangled Banner”.

Ask the reason why the text has the question marks
Show them the following video on youtube. It contains a brief history of the song.

Sing the National anthem a couple of times with the intention of saying correctly the words in bold and projecting the
final consonants t, d, v

2. Go over the first four patriotic songs. There are paper copies available in the teachers lounge- middle
computer desk. Alternatively, you can project them by opening the links below, they have the lyrics and the
videos.
