Ans: Rules refer to the way by which a game should played.

Ans: People who make sports their occupation are sportspersons. They undergo
training for many years.

1. Write the difference between indoor and outdoor games?
Ans: Games which are played inside the house or a room are indoor games. Games
which are played outside in open grounds or stadiums are outdoor games.
2. What is the difference between individual and team games?
Ans: Individual games involve two players who compete with each other to win a
game. Team games are played between two teams who compete with each other to
win a game.
3. Discuss the importance of playing games.
Ans : Playing games is important for us because it refreshes our mind and body.
After playing, we can get back to our work with renewed energy.
5. Why should we follow the rules of a game and play fairly?
Ans: Every game has certain rules and before playing a game one should
know all the rules of that very game. It is important to follow rules to avoid
fights and to play in a fair manner.

1. Which part of the plant grows below the ground?
Ans: The root is the part of a pant which grows below the ground.
2. What is the trunk of a tree?
Ans: Tall and woody stem of a tree is called the trunk.
3. What are shrubs?
Ans: Shrubs are plants with strong and short stems. They are also known as
buses.
4. Name two commonly seen climbers?
Ans: Cucumbers and money plant are two commonly seen climbers.
1. How are trees and shrubs different from one another?
Ans: Trees are tall plants with strong woody stem called trunk whereas shrubs are short
plants with strong and short stems.
2. How are herbs useful?
Ans: Herbs are plants with thin and green stems. The stems, leaves and seeds of herbs
can be used when fresh or can be dried to be used later. Herbs are grown for food or for
their medicinal properties.
3. Give the difference between climbers and creepers?
Ans: Climbers are plants with weak stems. They grow upwards clinging to other objects
like trees or walls to climb upwards and receive sunlight whereas, creepers are plants
that also have soft stems and cannot support their own weight. But unlike climbers,
they creep along the ground.
4. What are the different uses of plants?
Ans: Plants have many uses for example- they provides us shelter, fruits, vegetables,
rubber, paper, etc. Plants also help to purify the air by absorbing carbon dioxide and
releasing oxygen in the air.

1. What is photosynthesis?
Ans: The process by which plants make their food is called photosynthesis.
2. What is chlorophyll?
Ans: Chlorophyll is the green pigment in leaves which help them prepare food.
3. What is petiole?
The part of the leaf that attaches it to the stem is called petiole or stalk of a leaf.
4. Write two uses of leaves.
Ans: Leaves release oxygen in the air, We eat leaves of plants like spinach and lettuce.

1. What determines the shape and size of a leaf?
Ans: Leaves differ in size, shape, colour and smell. The way a leaf gets nutrients, water, sunlight
and air, determines the shape and size of the leaf.
2. Explain with an experiment that leaves differ in smell and aroma.
Ans: Leaves differ from one another on the basis of their distinct smell or aroma.. Let us conduct
an experiment to find this. Take leaves of coriander, tulsi and mind plants, Now crush them in
separate bowls . Now smell the three bowls.
3. Describe the different parts of a leaf.
Ans: A leaf has many different parts. The middle line is the midrib and the other lines are the
veins. The part that keeps the leaf attached to the stem is called petiole or stalk of a leaf. The
outer edge of a leaf is called its margin. A leaf has tiny holes underside of a leaf, called the
stomata. It is through these holes that the plant breathes.
4. How can dry leaves make the soil more fertile?
Ans: Dry leaves make the soil fertile as the dry fallen leaves get mixed with soil and water and
slowly turn into compost, which makes the soil more fertile.
