FRENCH STATEMENT ON ACADEMIC HONESTY (revised Fall 2021)

I understand that all work in this course, whether written or oral, submitted on paper or online, must be
strictly my own.

1. I understand that copying the written work of another student is considered cheating.
2. I understand that asking a tutor or friend to read and correct my work before it is submitted to my
instructor is considered cheating.
3. I understand that the use of any interactive computer program such as online translators or translation
programs (including those in word processing proofing tools) is cheating.
4. I understand that I must properly cite any printed or online text I quote, in whole or in part (see the
MLA Style Manual or the Chicago Manual of Style for guidelines), and that my failure to do so will be
considered plagiarism.
5. I understand that the reasonable use of dictionaries and grammars (paper or electronic) is permitted,
but that using these tools extensively is not recommended.
6. I understand that is it my responsibility to be familiar with and to adhere to the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill’s guidelines for academic honesty as outlined in the University Honor Code
(https://studentconduct.unc.edu/).
7. If it is determined by my instructor that any part of my work is not my own, I understand that a written
report of the incident will be submitted to the Dean of Students (Office of Student Conduct) and a
record of the incident will become part of my disciplinary file at UNC-CH. Additional sanctions may be
imposed, at the discretion of the Office of Student Conduct.

I have read the above and understand the standards for academic honesty and integrity as they are outlined
herein.
