Committee: General Assembly
Topic: Should parents limit teenager’s use of social media?
Country: Philippines
Delegates: ********

These types of discussions may be quite beneficial in terms of developing ethical

conduct. The dangers of social media include addiction; exposure to inappropriate adult-themed
content; constantly comparing; cyberbullying; and lack of sleep. The long-term risks of social
media overuse are depression, anxiety, low frustration tolerance, inability to regulate focus, and
suicidal ideation. It's an educational time to talk to your teens about how to manage technology
properly to prevent them from getting into danger.

Communicating with your teen about social media limits can help them develop responsible
behavior and learn to take responsibility for their activities. The use of social media in excess
can be addicting. You'll want to use it more the more you utilize it. Teenagers are accustomed
to conversing with their peers, sending text messages, and leaving comments. Sexting and
other graphic sexual acts should be monitored when photos are posted online. Self-esteem can
be harmed by online words and activities that elicit negative responses or unattractive photos.
Social media may be a source of cyberbullying and isolation, which could lead to mental health
problems. Social media makes it easy to meet new people and create friends, it also allows
vicious individuals to easily tear others down. Bullying perpetrators might utilize the anonymity
provided by social media to earn people's trust before terrorizing them in front of their peers. For
example, they could make a bogus profile and befriend a classmate, only to betray and shame
them later online. These internet attacks frequently leave profound psychological scars, driving
victims to harm themselves or commit suicide. Negative remarks shared online may be
particularly risky for young people who have a history of self-harm or suicide attempts. Every
glance at social media encourages teenagers to compare themselves to others unintentionally,
and they seldom come out ahead. Teenagers' lack of sleep and sleep difficulties have been
linked to their use of social media. Smart phones and tablets generate bright light that is
considered to interrupt sleep patterns. Sleep is essential for young people's learning, brain
development, and overall growth and wellness. More screen time means more alone time.
Our news feeds are flooded with disturbing information about the overuse of social media
and how it has affected youth. Cyberbullying, predators, sexting, and other nefarious activities.
When our children begin to use social media, they are exposed to a variety of things. The news
and articles lead us to believe that social media is harmful to us, especially to children. It is
prudent not to prohibit your children from accessing social media in this situation. However, it is
recommended and advantageous to keep a close eye on their social media usage for our
children’s safety.
We must, as global citizens, address this problem actively, Thank you.

University of Science and Technology of South Philippines

Lapasan, Cagayan De Oro City

Dear Ms. Katigbak:

After doing much research about colleges in the area that have Bachelor of Science in Architecture
programs, I am delighted to be applying to the University of Science and Technology of the Southern
Philippines because of the outstanding reputation and the exceptional reviews that I have read from other
recent graduates.

I spent my high school years at Manolo Fortich National High School. I feel that I have acquired a solid
intellectual foundation to continue pursuing my undergraduate studies at the University of Science and
Technology of the Southern Philippines. Since I was in elementary school, I often obsessed over arts,
which led me to begin to practice painting and drawing. As I grew up, I became more interested in
architectural structures, and watching architectural-related videos on YouTube became my hobby.
Recently, I have been practicing sketching modern houses and their interior designs. It was satisfying
because it turned out so well. I envision myself working in a big company and designing several houses. I
am eager to enhance my skills more at this prestigious school.

I would be very grateful if I could be considered for any kind of financial assistance or scholarship that
would help me greatly in the completion of this degree. I sincerely thank you for your time and kind
consideration. For any further questions or concerns, contact me at this number 09955896075.

Sincerely,

Dianne Bacal
