CHINESE NUMEROLOGY
WHAT IS CHINESE NUMEROLOGY?

• Man has tried to establish relationship between numbers, objects and living beings on
earth. In China, the practice of numerology dates back to more than 4000 years when it
is said to have been ruled by mythical emperors. It is a legend that towards the end of
the reign of these mythical emperors, Huang He (the Yellow River) kept getting flooded
for years consecutively, destroying large areas of habitation along its path.
• For more than ten years, Yu, the last of these emperors, fought the incessant flooding.
Finally, he was able to bring them under control through a method of his own. This he
called the 'flood preventing method'. According to the legend, the emperor, Yu, found a
shell of a rare species of tortoise. On it were strange yet fascinating markings showing
one square of nine boxes, three across and three down. The square could look like this
sign #. The grid was named Lo Shu Grid.
• The Lo Shu Grid is said to be a unique grid where there are numbers from 1 to 9 (no
zero). These numbers add up to number 15 when added in any direction, either
horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Now this figure 15 also relates to the fifteen days
between a new moon and full moon. The number 5 is at the center of the grid.
Therefore, it is esteemed very highly and was greatly respected in China in the ancient
days.
WHAT IS CHINESE NUMEROLOGY?
• The study of numerology took root thereafter, and has now become widespread. Even
in these modern times, the Chinese believe strongly in numbers. This is according to
the belief that numbers have some kind of magical effect which can affect their life's
destiny.
• Today, Chinese numerology is based on Lo Shu Grid. It is used as the birth chart. This
grid helps people to predict others' personality strengths and their traits. It looks
complex and difficult to use at first but once one gets used to it, it is very simple to use
because to know about someone's personality, one just needs his date of birth.
• Beside the Lo Shu Grid, the Chinese make use of the numbers in other ways. Different
meanings emerge from different numbers; a particular combination of numbers is
considered luckier than the one that is not. It is their belief that a set of even numbers
is lucky because good luck comes only in pairs.
• Chinese Traditional Medicine considers mystical association to numerical and the
science, which includes acupuncture, is based on this very belief. They have beliefs such
as there are 12 vessels circulating blood and the air in the body and bringing blood to
the heart correspond to the 12 rivers which flow towards the Central Kingdom. The
basis of acupuncture is the 365 days of the year which correspond to the 365 parts of
the body.
KUA NUMBER
Kua Number is a basic concept in Feng Shui. Kua number is calculated based
on the Date of Birth and Gender of a person. According to Feng shui, the
year of birth of a person has some influence on certain qualities, abilities
and features of the individual. It is also believed that better understanding
of Kua Number helps in the development of a persons potential and also
overall improvement of his life.
FENG SHUI KUA NUMBER & THE TWO GROUPS
Kua Number divides people into 2 groups.
People, whose Kua number is 1, 3, 4, 9 or a 5 male belong to the East group.
Those, whose Kua number is 2, 6, 7, 8 or a 5 female belong to the West group.
Understanding one's Kua Number will help him determine the best areas for him and

Calculation of Kua Number is based on a simple formula. For the

calculation of Feng shui kua, 2 factor are taken into consideration
- year of birth and Gender. Follow these simple steps to calculate
Kua Number.
HOW TO CALCULATE FENG SHUI KUA
NUMBER FOR MALE ?
Subtract the single digit obtained in the first step from 10. The resulting
single digit number will give the Feng shui kua number for male.
For calculating the Feng Shui Kua number of a Male,

subtract 6 from 10.
Example : Therefore Kua number for male born in 1978 is = 4.

Step 1: 7+8 = 15 Step 2: 1+5 = 6
Step 3: 10 -6 = 4
HOW TO CALCULATE FENG SHUI KUA
NUMBER FOR FEMALE ?
Add 5 to the single digit obtained in previous step. If the result is a
double digit, add the digits to get a single digit number.
For calculating the Feng Shui Kua number of a Female,

add 5. Add once again to get a single digit.
Example : Therefore Kua number for female born in 1978 is 2.

Step 1: 7+8 = 15, Step 2: 1+ 5 = 6,
Step 3: 6+5 = 11, Step 4: 1+1= 2

HOW TO MAKE CHINESE NUMEROLOGY CHART
Step 1: Draw a grid 3 * 3

Step 2: Write out your date of birth using 2 digit for day, 2 digit for
month and 4 digit for year.
i.e: 21 10 1981, 03 07 1985 etc….

Step 3: Write each number in your date of birth in its correct position
In the grid all the Zero will do underneath the grid. The correct
position of each number is shown below. In other words, the table
shows where all the numbers in the date of birth are written.
Step 4: All 1’s in the birth go in the 1 position which is bottom left side
Of the grid. All the 2’s go in the 2 place above 1, etc…
So someone with a birth date of 10 – 12 – 1981 has the following grid.

POSITIVE ARROWS
The positive Arrows occurs when three numbers appear together in a row, column or
diagonal. These arrows are also called the Arrows Of Strength or the Arrows Of
