1 INTRODUCTION
1.1 Overview
This document describes the specifications of the Alcatel-Lucent 9312 Compact Outdoor
NodeB in AC version. The naming of this product is:
- the digital 2U NodeB (d2U) and associated Remote Radio Heads (RRH20-21, RRH40-21,
RRH40-08, RRH40-19 and RRH40-AWS),
This document only covers the 9312 Compact Outdoor NodeB in AC version.
2 PRODUCT OVERVIEW
The Alcatel-Lucent 9312 Compact Node B (9312 Compact) offers wireless operators a cost-
effective entry into the UMTS market for areas where site selection is a difficult task. It is
particularly suited to the macro-cellular application with up to 3 sectors configuration. It
introduces Alcatel-Lucent very latest technology evolutions to deliver a high capacity
configuration in a very small footprint, with significant improvements on energy savings.
The 9312 Compact offers a unique carry to site, all inclusive and fully integrated solution for
macro coverage. This product comes initially in an Outdoor configuration AC power supply.
The Compact Outdoor has been specially designed for coverage within constraining
environments:

xCCM-U which controls OAM management, part of call processing and internal/external
data flow switching/combining, supporting external/internal alarm connectivity and
external synchronization reference interface.
xCEM-U, controls part of call processing and base band transmit/receive digital signal
processing. One, up to a maximum four, of these modules can be inserted in the
Compact Outdoor NodeB.
CPSU is the power supply unit of the compact Outdoor NodeB. It can be equipped with up
to two rectifiers. Internal battery backup can be added in option.
TRDU is single module with the following function:
- Radio Transceiver (digital signal processing and RF modulation-demodulation).
- Power amplifier
- Low Noise Amplifier
- Duplexer
3.1.2 Dimensions
The xCCM-U is a 21mm face plate board. PCB dimensions are 389.6mm x 273.0mm. Its weight
is 1.6kg.
3.2.2 Dimensions
The xCEM-U is a 21mm face plate board. PCB dimensions are 389.6 mm x 273 mm. Its weight
is 1.2kg.
The TRDU 40-21 supports up to 2 carriers in 2100MHz with Rx Diversity. It provides up to:
It supports Reta/TMA thru feeder with a Bias-T and provides interface to AISG controller.
• DC power input,
• Ethernet (debug connector),
• AISG DC+RS485 input,
• CPRI interface (base band DL/UL samples link + TRDU management link to xCCM-U),
• RF I/O : one duplexed TX/RX main, one RX diversity Power input
3.3.2 Dimensions
The TRDU module size is (HxWxD) 325x74x350mm. Its weight is 10.5kg (TBC).

The AC interface module is the ADU. It provides EMI filters, main breaker & surge protection.
• 230VAC, single phase, Two wires (Phase, Neutral) plus protective earth (208/240VAC -
10%/+6%) 45-65Hz.
• 120/240VAC, split phase Europe, Three wires (Phase 1, Phase 2, Neutral) plus
protective earth (208/240VAC -10%/+6%) 45-65Hz.
The AC power networks shall be TT or TN-S. However, the NodeB shall suffer no irreversible
damage when it is wrongfully connected to an IT or TN-C power network.
The NodeB shall operate at full performances across the voltage range [180V; 264V] and the
frequency range [45Hz; 65Hz].
Please find below some examples of power consumptions and battery backup time in function
of some configurations (xCEM-U, xCCM-U and TRDU 40W 2100MHz).
In case batteries are charging, the max DC power consumption is 1600W with one rectifier or
2000W when the configuration is equipped with 2 rectifiers, thanks to the input current
limitation.
In case heaters are on (during the cold start up or when temperature is lower than 0°C and
equipments power consumption is lower than 800W ), the Max DC power consumption is
800W (cf Environmental cooling system chapter).
The power supply consumption, based on the TRDU output power and some measurements,
is the following (Figures have to be confirmed with the serial production):
Configuration Traffic Total output Typ DC power Perf.

In case external temperature is below 0°C, then the damper located on the door is closed
and the air inside the cabinet is recycled to avoid heaters activation and power dissipation.

• User ico: Interconnection panel providing power supply to the OEM modules located in
the user space. It also provides connectivity for OEM alarms management.
• 16 External Alarms kit: The external alarm kit provides the connection and protection
against electrical disturbances of 16 external alarms and 6 remote controls (8 external
alarms and 3 remote control per cable shared on 2 cables), between the Compact and
a customer equipment. This module in integrated in the user space (half 19 inches)
together with the optional PCM lightning protection.
• PCM Lightning Protection kit: The kit provides secondary protection for the PCM Links.
This module in integrated in the user space (half 19 inches) together with the external
alarm kit.
• RETA: To enable the control of the antenna tilt remotely, a kit is available for the
Compact. This option is AISG compliant. The Central Control Unit is located in the
user space and linked to xCCM-U through site LAN connection and to TRDUs (AISG DC
power and RS485 links).
• TMA and AISG TMA: If the cable length between the cabinet and the antenna is
important, a tower mounted amplifier can be used to meet the noise figure
performance of the receiver chain. TMA Power supply and alarm management are
carried through RF antenna outputs of TRDU. The DC supply and alarm management is
done by TRDU in case of classical TMA or through AISG controller (CCU) in case of AISG
TMA. Alarms are monitored by the TRDU.
