Naturally Healthy!
Program 2:
Hand-out: Several seeds for each child. Place seeds for each child in a small plastic bag. You may wish to include
written instructions with the seeds.
I am thinking of something.
You will never touch it, but it touches you every day.
You cannot ignore it—yet you must not look at it.
It comes without being called.
It disappears without being taken. 3
It looks small, but it is larger than you can imagine.
Without it, you would soon freeze to death.
What is my word? (Choose someone to answer.)
Yes: the SUN!
We can’t do without it!
Even things that are hard to wash can be purified by the sun!
Now and then, put your blankets and pillows out
in the sun for a “sun bath.”
This will kill germs hiding in them, and make them fresh again.

15
When you have a bad sunburn, your skin blisters and peels.
16
People who have had several bad sunburns are much more
likely to get skin cancer when they are older.
17
Skin cancers often look like little sores that make scabs.
But instead of healing, they spread and get bigger.
Skin cancers are very dangerous to your health.
18
Even if you don’t burn, it is not a good idea to get too much
sun on your skin.
You might think it looks good to have a dark suntan . . .
19
But people who tan their skin, year after year, suffer for it later.
Their skin is extra wrinkled, and they often have
lots of brown spots.
20
This is why, if you are going to spend a lot of time in the sun, you
should wear a hat or shade yourself with an umbrella.
Your arms and legs need protection, too!

Take-home suggestion:
Give each child a few flower seeds.
Instruct them to plant the seeds in a place where they will get a lot of sun, and to water them each day.
Tell them that as the plants grow, they will be a reminder of our own need for the sun—and the Son of righteousness.
