Abstract
In modern smart cities, license plate recognition systems play a
crucial role in various applications like toll payment, parking fee
payment, and residential access control. These electronic systems
enhance convenience and safety for daily life while offering effi-
cient services to managers. While traditional license plate recogni-
tion algorithms have their limitations due to factors like light,
shadow, and complex backgrounds, the advent of deep learning
and image processing has revolutionized this technology.
Deep learning empowers license plate recognition algorithms to
extract intricate features, significantly boosting detection and
recognition accuracy. This paper delves into the integration of
deep learning into license plate recognition, focusing on the fol-
lowing key aspects by harnessing the power of deep learning and
image processing, this study contributes to advancing license plate
recognition technology, paving the way for more accurate, robust,
and adaptable systems in smart city applications.
