(IVI), where the SoC performs safety related functions such as
camera / sensor data acquisition and processing, image or video
display, communication and interaction with other systems, etc.

Qualcomm SA8295P SoC
Product Overview
The Qualcomm SA8295P SoC is divided into an ASIL B Main Domain (MD) and
an ASIL D Safety Management Sub-System (SMSS). The MD contains most of
the SoC’s resources for data acquisition, processing, data storage in external
DRAM, data I/O and communication, etc. The SMSS contains several system
monitors and BIST controllers, a central error aggregator, a dual-core lockstep
CPU, communication interfaces and a dedicated error pin that are intended to be
used for health monitoring, error management and reporting to an external
Qualcomm monitoring device. MD and SMSS are separated to ensure freedom from
interference such that health monitoring and error management can work reliably
SA8295P SoC even in the presence of faults in the SoC Main Domain.
To support safety related applications, the SoC contains many hardware safety
mechanisms to detect and control internal and external failures (including
voltage, clock and temperature monitors, logic- and memory BIST, duplicated
logic, ECC and Parity protection for memories and registers, communication and
data protection schemes based on CRC or other E2E safety protocols, timeout
monitors, etc.). Additional safety mechanisms are provided to support safe
software and system operation (including user configurable system memory
management units and peripheral access protection, register access protection,
hypervisor support, watchdog timers, etc.).

Systematic Capability: ASIL B / D

The Qualcomm SA8295P SoC has been developed as a Hardware Safety
Elements out of Context (SEooC) per ISO 26262-10, Clause 9.
The development, as documented by Qualcomm, meets the applicable ASIL B
requirements for the Main Domain and the applicable ASIL D requirements for
the Safety Management Sub-System, regarding specification, design, verification
and validation according to ISO 26262, parts 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9, as guided by ISO
26262-10, and the functional safety management requirements per ISO 26262-2.

Hardware Safety Integrity: ASIL B

The FMEDA results show that the Qualcomm SA8295P SoC can meet the
ASIL B requirements of ISO 26262-5, clause 8, and the ASIL B requirements
applicable to an IC Hardware SEooC of ISO 26262-5, clause 9. However, the
system developer and integrator of the SA8295P SoC shall accept and, if
possible, further reduce the PMHF value for transient faults.
Failure rates and FMEDA metric results may have to be re-calculated based on
the actual mission profile and operating conditions of the item integrating the
SA8295P SoC, and it shall be confirmed that these results meet the metric target
values allocated to the SEooC within the item.
