DANGER
Dust deposits on or in the area of the machine
Danger to life from the explosion of a flammable combination of dust/air.
– There may not be any dust deposits on or in the area of the ma-
chine.
1. Never clean with compressed air! The turbulence can cause a
flammable mixture of dust/air!
2. Check the machine and drive groups for dust deposits on a regular
basis.
3. Vacuum the deposits of machine surfaces and the drive sets. Use a
vacuum cleaner suited and approved to the Ex zone!
4. In case of doubt, get in contact with the manufacturer.
A potentially explosive atmosphere can also form when there are leaks
caused by damage, even if the machine is operated in an area with no
potentially explosive atmosphere.
There is a potential risk of explosion due to e.g.:
▪ dust deposits in the form of smoldering material on hot surfaces ca-
pable of igniting a dust/ air mixture,
▪ sudden swirling dust producing a dust/ air mixture that can come into
contact with an ignition source,
▪ an ignitable mixture of dust and air created when MULTICOR is
opened for service work.
Perform routine inspections to ensure that no substantial dust deposits
as defined in explosion protection guidelines are able to form on or near
MULTICOR. Take appropriate measures to ensure that a potentially ex-
plosive atmosphere does not develop.
Safety Concept
Follow the data with the safety concept in the manual BV-H 2021. The
MULTICOR K is designed for an explosion overpressure of up to 16 bar.
Maximum operating pressures up to 0.6 bar are allowed during normal
operation.
An explosion decoupling mechanism (e.g. flameproof starfeeder)
must be included between the storage hopper and the
MULTICOR K, depending on system configuration, to prevent flames
from passing into the MULTICOR K or into downstream conveyor lines in
case of a dust explosion in the storage hopper.
