By looking at the trope tables available in both VISORPGZand this add-on, it Comedy (100) 8
can be see that there’s a mix of tables with 100, with 50, or with 25 Crime (100) 9
tropes…each one with their own meaning:
Drama (100) 10
100 tropes. These tables concern the more generic genres, as Action!, Fantasy (100) 11
Comedy, etc. Thus, they’re more apt to be used as 3-entries genres (or, at
Horror (100) 12
the very least, as 2-entries ones) when creating the Genre Table.
Romance (100) 13
50 tropes. These tables concern genres that are a) very wide and, thus, 14
Chanbara (50)
have been subdivided in different sub-genres (as the case of Sci-fi, Space
& Cyberpunk), or b) somewhat specific genres that are, nevertheless, very Cosmic horror (50) 14
troperific just by themselves (as the Pirates or Zombie outbreak ones). Cyberpunk (50) 15
They can be used, thus, as 3-entries, 2-entries or 1-entry genres with Faery tales (50) 15
equal ease. 16
High school (50)
25 tropes. There are very specific genres, or examples of a subgenre Modern war (50) 16
from a more general one. Or, as in the case of Gangsters, Slashers or 17
Pirates (50)
Ninjas, subgenres that are very troperific, but with plenty of those tropes
already covered in another table (in these cases Crime, Horror & Post-apocalyptic (50) 17
Chanbara, respectively). Thus, they should be just used as 2-entries or 1- Sci-fi (50) 18
entry genres, as they better work as a side-dish instead of as the main Slices of life (50) 18
course. 19
Space (50)
At the right, you’ll find an index of all the available trope tables, sorted Spies (50) 19
first by size, and then alphabetically. Those tables in cursive were already 20
Swords & Sorcery (50)
present in the VISORPGZ core manual, but they have been included here again
for your convenience. Note that there have been some changes in some them, Tragedy (50) 20
as separating the former two-part tables (as High School & Anime), expanding Western (50) 21
(as Drama), etc. And also note that some tropes will appear in more than one Zombie outbreak (50) 21
table…but that’s WAD, because some tropes fit more than one genre too well. 22
Gangsters (25)
E.g., you can see plenty of ‘Incoming missile’ in Action! stories, but that’s also a
staple of the Modern War genre, so…yes, it appears in both tables, even if it’s Musical (25) 22
expected than the latter case would probably be more realistic (and tragic) Ninja (25) 23
than the former. Slasher (25) 23
Peplum (25) 24
