Contact the nearest embassy of the Slovak Republic and apply for:
1. Visa / residence permit: the embassy will provide all necessary information.
2. Legalization of your rap sheet and school diplomas (if required by your country).

Documents for registration (PDF scan / picture of the size appropriate for reading):
1. Valid passport (identification page + validity information) valid at least till 31 August,
2024.
2. School diploma / documents (no apostille or super-legalization needed in this case).
a. If applying for the bachelor’s studies you will need the final diploma from your
secondary school plus the reports with marks for each year of your secondary studies
confirmed by the school (if such documents were issued).
b. If applying for the master’s/doctoral studies you will need the diploma, and diploma
supplement (if such documents were issued)
After submitting online registration form, you will be officially registered in the university
system. You will obtain a new university email address which will become the main
communication channel.

Monthly payments are required up to the 5th day via the bank transfer.

After the arrival to the Slovak Republic

a. After the arrival duties

Temporary residence permit
Documents needed:
1. Valid passport and Viza D
2. Original rap sheet issued in your state - apostillized or super-legalized by the embassy
of SR and officially translated into Slovak language (translator registered in SR), not
older than 90 days.
3. In case you were the resident in other state during the last 3 years for more than 90 days
within 6 months in a row, you will need the rap sheet - apostillized or super-legalized
by the embassy of SR and officially translated into Slovak language (translator
registered in SR), not older than 90 days.
4. Photo 3 x 3,5 cm – 4 pieces
 5. Confirmation of health capablity for study abroad from your home country in English,
maximum 30 days old.
6. Confirmation of accomodation - provides UMB
7. Confirmation of studies - provides UMB
8. Travel insuarance valid for the period of stay
Further study at Slovak universities
Document needed:
In order to pursue the admission for your future university studies after completing the Slovak
Language Preparation Programme you will need original documents confirming your highest
completed studies. The documents will have to be apostilllized and super-legalized and
officially translated into Slovak language (translator registered in SR).
• Documents on completed secondary studies: reports for each year and the final diploma.
• Documents on completed university studies: the diploma, and diploma supplement (if
issued).
After the arrival tasks:
Obligatory:
1. To register at Ministry of Education – provides UMB and the Ministry
2. To apply for the temporary residence permit – provides UMB
3. To open a bank account. The bank account contract will be needed to transfer the
scholarship money to your new account in the Slovak bank.
Note: please note, that first scholarship money amount will be transfered to your Slovak bank
account in November (including the scholarship for September).
4. To take medical examination – provides UMB
5. To apply for health insuarance – provides UMB

b. Slovak Language Preparation Programme – description and time

schedule

Duration: 04.09.2023 – 28.06.2024 (42 weeks)

Weekly number of lessons: 25 - 30 lessons
Venue: Cesta na amfiteáter 1, 974 01 Banská Bystrica
Aim: Linguistic competence in Slovak language – preparation for further university studies in
Slovak language, bothe general and language for specific purposes.
Schedule:
Winter term – general language preparation:
September – hybrid form (both online and present form)
From October onward – present form
Note: If you (due to serious reasons) cannot start the course on 4 September 2023 in-person,
please note that hybrid form of learning will be possible only in September. In such a case
please inform us as soon as possible (slovak.education@umb.sk) about the date when you can
start the course in-person and we will provide you with the access to online lessons.
Summer term – general language preparation + Slovak for specific purposes
Exam: Language competence exam
Cerificate according to CEFR.
