The letter discusses a winter conference held in January where attendees reflected on who God is and their surrender to Him. Many wrestled with fully trusting and relinquishing control to God over all areas of their lives. The writer finds joy in walking with students as they struggle to surrender everything that hinders living for Jesus. Thanks are expressed for partnering and supporting the conference through generosity and prayers that make a difference in people's lives.

Hello and Happy New Year!
We rang in the new year at Winter Conference in Minneapolis, MN with a sense of anticipation and excitement about who Jesus is and what He is doing in our lives. After four days of looking into God’s Word and considering who God is and what God is doing in our lives and in the world, we wrestled with surrender. Is God trustworthy? Is He worthy of our lives? Can we release our dreams, loves, and treasures to His wisdom and care? God deserves our trust and surrender. He is worthy of our complete and utter devotion. Jesus invites us to take his yoke upon us and learn from him … for he is humble and gentle in heart. Many of us admit we want to control some areas of our lives. We think we have the wisdom and “know how” to make decisions without consulting God. We justify our actions and attitudes even though there is a nagging sense of “am I loving the way Jesus calls me to love? Am I trusting Jesus to take care of me or am I seeking to protect myself? Is Jesus really the ruler of my life?” I once had a friend comment to me, “If Jesus isn’t Lord of ALL my life, he isn’t really Lord of my life at all.” That convicts me still. If I hold any area outside of his control, then I am still trying to control my life. If I’m only “surrendering” the areas in which I agree with Jesus, I’m not really surrendered to Jesus at all. It is such a joy to walk with students as they wrestle with trusting God. Together we struggle to lay aside everything that hinders us from living for Him. I am thankful for a place like Winter Conference where we can wrestle well together. Thank you for partnering with us in God’s kingdom work in the lives of students. We were so grateful to be able to reduce the price of the conference for everyone as well as help some with even more of the cost. Your generosity and prayers truly make a difference in people’s lives. Thank you! Tammy Dunford on behalf of UND staff and students
