Collaborative Effort Proposal: Cambrian College and NVIDIA
UNIT I: INTRODUCTION:
Cambrian College, committed to providing its students with a cutting-edge education and
preparing them for success in the evolving technological landscape (Cambrian College, n.d.),
shares this vision with NVIDIA, a global leader in Artificial |Intelligence, Machine Lerning,
High Performance Computing, and high-performance GPUs (NVIDIA Corporation, n.d.). This
proposal outlines a strategic partnership between these entities, highlighting its potential for
mutual benefit and advancement in technological education.
NVIDIA Corporation was founded in 1993 by Jen-Hsun Huang, Chris Malachowsky, and Curtis
Priem (NVIDIA Corporation, 2023, Annual Report). The company sought to develop graphics
processing units (GPUs) for personal computers, quickly establishing itself as a leader in the
gaming industry with its innovative GPUs that significantly improved graphics rendering
compared to traditional CPUs (NVIDIA Corporation, n.d., "About Us").
Over time, NVIDIA expanded its product portfolio beyond gaming, encompassing a wide range
of applications like artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), high-performance
computing (HPC), data centers, and professional visualization (NVIDIA Corporation, n.d.,
"Products & Solutions"). Today, NVIDIA stands as a global technology leader with a diverse
product portfolio and a strong reputation for innovation.
Company Mandate:
NVIDIA's mission statement, "invent the future of computing," reflects its dedication to
innovation and shaping the future of various industries through technological advancements
(NVIDIA Corporation, n.d., "About Us"). The company's core values, central to its mandate,
include:
1
Performance: Delivering high-performance products that provide users with the best
possible experience.
NVIDIA is a large and successful company with a strong market position. In 2023, its revenue
was $26.9 billion, a 61% increase year-over-year (NVIDIA Corporation, 2023, Annual Report).
With a strong balance sheet and a cash and equivalents position of $24.1 billion, NVIDIA
exhibits financial viability. Additionally, its leadership in key growth markets like AI, ML, and
HPC, which are projected to experience significant growth, further solidifies its viability
(NVIDIA Corporation, n.d., "Company Overview").
Ongoing Projects:
NVIDIA is actively working on several exciting projects across its key focus areas, including:
AI and ML Platforms:
NVIDIA DGX systems and NVIDIA Triton Inference Server, platforms designed to
simplify building and deploying AI applications (NVIDIA Corporation, n.d., "Products &
Solutions").
HPC Systems:
Next-generation HPC systems like NVIDIA DGX A100, delivering the highest
performance for scientific research and commercial applications (NVIDIA
Corporation, n.d., "Products & Solutions").
Professional Visualization:
2
Next-generation solutions like NVIDIA Quadro RTX GPUs, empowering
designers, engineers, and other professionals to create their most innovative work
(NVIDIA Corporation, n.d., "Products & Solutions").
Gaming Technologies:
Next-generation technologies like NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs, designed to deliver the
best possible gaming experience for PC gamers (NVIDIA Corporation, n.d., "Products &
Solutions").
1. Curriculum Development:
o Integrate NVIDIA technology into relevant courses (e.g., AI, robotics, HPC) in
the School of Engineering Technology (Cambrian College, n.d., "Programs &
Courses").
o Develop specialized training programs for faculty and staff on NVIDIA tools and
technologies.
o Equip labs with NVIDIA hardware and software (e.g., GPUs, AI platforms, HPC
systems) for hands-on learning.
3. Industry Engagement:
3
o Partner with NVIDIA and other industry players on research initiatives to address
real-world challenges and offer valuable research experience.
4. Community Outreach:
o Offer NVIDIA technology workshops and training programs to engage the local
community and promote STEM fields.
Expected Benefits:
Enhanced student learning: Prepare students for in-demand careers through hands-on
learning and industry exposure.
For NVIDIA:
Talent pipeline: Access a pool of talented and skilled students for future recruitment.
Academic collaboration: Gain valuable insights and feedback to inform future product
development.
4
UNIT IV: ALIGNMENT WITH CAMBRIAN'S MANDATE AND 5-YEAR PLAN
This proposed collaboration aligns with several key priorities outlined in Cambrian College's 5-
year plan, including:
Community engagement: Connecting with the community to address local needs and
build a stronger future (Cambrian College, 2020, "Further Together Cambrian College 5-
Year Strategic Plan
