TITLE OF THE PROJECT

DESIGN OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDING IN METAL FRAME

II. CONTEXT AND PROBLEM STATEMENT

The construction field is a vast field , which has known throughout its history several renovations
not only in the design and production processes, but also in the techniques and marterials used in
the structures ; according to needs and capacities. So we now have a variety of choices in
marterials, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, steel, wood.

Currently in Cameroon the use of metal framework is limited in the industrial field, the other
fields are based more essentially on concrete, although steel strutures haves many advantages such
as lightness, rapid assembly on site, easier subsequent conversions and above all a small footprint.

OBJECTIVES

The main goal of this projet is to study and size a building for residential use with a metal frame
endowed with sufficient rigidity and resistance so as to save human lives and limit the marterial
damage which is due to damage to structures whiles applying the knowledge acquired during our
training of steel structure design’course.

III. METHODS AND MARTERIALS

In the frame of this project, the design and sizing will be done in relation to French standards such
as (CCM97, RNV99, BAEL, DTR C2.2), profiles assembly by bolting and welding and the
construction will be composed of two marterials

STEEL

The mechanical characteristics of the differents steel grades are as follows Elastic

CONCRETE

The concrete used will be defined, from the mechanical point of view by :

-The compressive strength

-the tensile strength

IV. THE PROJET RESULT

The choice of this project is motivated by the fact that the structure can be dismantled at any time
for another destination or for a future project and the limitation of marterials damage due to
damage to the structure is considerable
