A NARRATIVE REPORT ABOUT THE 5-DAY SCHOOL IN-SERVICE TRAINING


I. INTRODUCTION:
In support to the implementation of the Basic Education and to the Department of
Education’s commitment to uphold the Professional Development of the teachers amidst the challenges of
the new normal, the School Division of Nueva Ecija, through the efforts of our District Supervisor, Attorney
Marilou R. Buenaventura and our School Principal, Mr. Danilo B. Garcia, organized an interactive sessions
and seminar workshop upholding the professional development of the teachers and about the use of video
applications as one of the instructions or tools that will be a great help in distance learning.
In this connection, the teaching staffs of Santa Rosa Integrated School conducted a 5-Day
School In-Service Training for the S.Y 2020-2021. A three-day school –based INSET that aims to further
expand the participant’s skills and knowledge on the different digital video application as platforms that
are useful in delivering quality instructions and a 2-day virtual online conference through Google Meet.
Mrs. Rowena DC. Flores served as the Master of Ceremony that day. The program started
with the singing of National Anthem conducted by Mrs. Justina R. Balmeo, followed by a prayer by Mrs.
Liza A. Pablea, Pledge to the Flag of Ms. Aniko A. Mabolo. Ms. Rufaida S. Santos delivered her thought for
the day with this quotation “It’s not about how much you do but how much love you put into what you do
that counts”. On the other hand, Mrs. Jaramie Gay T. Santos gave her warm greetings and an energizer
through the effort of Mrs. Anatalia M. Decaymat.
II. HIGHLIGTHS:
Headed by the dynamic leader, Mr. Freddie Santiago our Head Teacher, the SRIS educators
actively participated in the said training workshop.
On the first day, Ms. Rufaida S. Santos, Teacher III, led her teachers in making video lesson
using PowerPoint. She had her enthusiastic personality to give all her insights about making video lessons.
She monitored whether or not the teachers are on their tracks in pursuing their output presentation in the
afternoon.
On the second day, Mr. Kenneth John G. Carino, Teacher I, inspired us to improve in making
simple video editing that makes learning more fun and engaging with the use of Canva, though his effort he
tackled how to insert and record presentations in Canva, making slides and templates that will enhance
and aids in facilitating learning followed by output presentation in the afternoon.
On the third day, the use of Kinemaster was the highlight of teacher Marianne D. Anasan,
Tecahr I, with eagerness, she humbly shared and demonstrated the use of Kinemaster which makes
learning more motivating and attracting. She showed how videos can be modified, recording voices and
adding some effects. Moreover, our learners can use the application to present their presentation in the
classroom.
On the fourth day, in the morning session, the Professional Code of Ethics through virtual
conference for teachers was delivered by our school principal. He clearly emphasized that the teachers
understand that when they get a teaching position they are agreeing to follow the Code of Ethics, he also
told us about proper grooming, wearing of school uniforms, how to treat others with respect, empathy for
others and how to talk in a well-thought out manner and in the afternoon, the topic “The Role of Teachers
in this Pandemic Time” was shared by Mrs. Mary Grace M. Gonzales, Teacher III, as she stressed out the
pandemic drama has made the learning system change, to engage the learners in digital classes, we have
to be creative to grab the attention of the learners.
On the fifth and last day, Mrs. Haide B. Domingo, Master Teacher I inspired the teachers on
the Benefits of Arts as a Reliever of Stress, she pointed out that in art therapy, a simple coloring or drawing
can minimize anxiety and combat negative mood.
And in the afternoon was a demonstration teaching as part of classroom observation tool
where it provides teachers with constructive critical feedback in order to improve their classroom
management and instructional techniques.
At the end of the seminar, Mr Danilo B. Garcia gave the lecturers their certificates in
showing their time and effort and gave his final closing remarks to formally close the INSET for this S.Y
2020-2021.
